We operate across multiple UK locations and employ a hybrid work pattern for this position from our studios located in Oxford, Warwick and Runcorn. Work-life balance is important to us, and we're happy to discuss how we can accommodate your working preferences by offering flexibility in both working hours and the frequency of onsite days.

We are on the lookout for a Lead VFX Artist to join our passionate and growing VFX team to work on Project Archipelago, a co-op strategy shooter game in development.

The VFX team is responsible for all visual effects developed in Rebellions games. Not only particle effects, but screen post effects, material effects, mesh destruction effects and UI effects developed in Rebellions propriety engine “Asura”.

You will be assisting to help create project specific processes and industry beating VFX for brand new titles having key involvement in and direct say in the construction and pipeline requirements.

This is a great opportunity for individuals looking for the challenge of providing strong leadership and mentorship to develop and nurture a team in their skills and career growth.

  • Help to build a solid template library of assets that other members of the dev team can utilise.
  • Create a set of VFX benchmark assets, with clear documentation to guide your team.
  • Be a mentor and help get new team members up and running rapidly.
  • Keep the team focus high and act as a great example to your team seniors, regulars, and juniors.

Requirements

- Blender

- Another VFX tool (Unreal/Unity/Proprietary)

- Photoshop

- Simulation software (EmberGen, Houdini, Cinema 4d, etc.)

  • Expert level in the craft of creating real time VFX assets as well as an expert understanding of VFX shaders and relevant maps created for them

  • Have a solid understanding of real-world pyrotechnics and other naturals, a great feeling of weight, timing, and sense of scale.

Benefits

We offer an extensive benefits package to our team including:

  • 22 days holidays + Christmas closure (typically 4 days) & Bank holidays (increasing with service at 5 years – one day each year until you reach 31 days)
  • Private Medical Insurance, healthcare cash plan, including dental and Vision

About The Company

Founded in 1992, Rebellion is one of Europe’s biggest independent multimedia studios. Its flagship Sniper Elite series is renowned for its authentic stealth and sniping gameplay with more than 20 million players worldwide. 2000 AD is synonymous with the absolute finest in British comic book art. With the acquisition of a $100m film studio and the world’s largest archive of English language comics, Rebellion continues to go from strength to strength.

Rebellion now operates across books, comics, TV and film, but at its core it’s still a leading developer and publisher of games. Whether it’s the breathtaking intensity of Sniper Elite 4, the face-hugging terror of Aliens vs. Predator or the grindhouse frenzy of the Zombie Army series, the Oxford-based studio is revered for creating stand-out games designed to thrill.
