As a Partner Engineer, Mobile Carriers at Google, you'll manage all aspects of the carrier Type Approval (TA) process for mobile products. This includes managing carrier requirements, sample management, certification schedules, and packaging. You'll lead multi-disciplinary projects, collaborate with Android and software teams to troubleshoot carrier-related issues, and work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, and manage project schedules. You will also maintain regular updates with external and internal teams and collaborate with other carrier program managers. The role requires strong program management skills and extensive experience with cellular radio technologies and carrier certification processes. You will be responsible for ensuring on-time delivery of certification and testing reports.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years program management experience
  • Experience managing carrier certification of smartphones and wearables
  • Lead multi-disciplinary projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
Good to have:
  • 5+ years experience with cellular radio technologies (2G/3G/4G LTE, VoLTE, 5G)
  • 5+ years experience in modem/telephony technology stack and troubleshooting
  • Experience testing LTE/5G connected devices
  • Knowledge of global carrier certification processes

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience managing carrier certification of smartphones and connected wearable devices including scheduling, testing, or execution.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience with cellular radio technologies and features such as 2G/3G/4G LTE, VoLTE, 4X4 MIMO, 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) and Standalone (SA), antenna design, etc., and their deployments among global cellular network operators.
  • 5 years of experience in modem/telephony technology stack and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in testing of LTE/5G connected devices.
  • Knowledge of carrier certification processes for Global carriers.

You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

In this role, you will be working with cross-functional teams for on-time certification and testing reports delivery. You will consolidate all the carrier certification and test reports requirements with the consideration of the goal timelines to draft certification and testing schedules. You will make sure the testing start and end date is secured. You will maintain regular updates from the external parties and also share the latest updates with the internal teams. You will collaborate with development teams for troubleshooting and assist them to fix the issues efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the carrier Type Approval (TA) process including carrier requirements delivery, sample management, certification schedule, and packaging requirements, for mobile products.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. Collaborate with Android and software teams to triage and prioritize Carrier-related issues.
  • Work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate  with cross-functional partners of the company. Maintain regular updates from the external parties and also share the latest updates with the internal teams.
  • Collaborate with other carrier program managers in the team on program updates and represent in product meetings as needed.
