Job Description
As a Product Engineer in Google's Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME), you'll provide sustaining support for mass-produced products at Contract Manufacturers (CMs)/Joint Development Manufacturers (JDMs). Responsibilities include driving factory readiness for product changes, supporting component qualification, providing training, and ensuring product performance meets requirements. You'll resolve manufacturing issues and drive continuous improvement. You'll also engage in New Product Introduction (NPI), consolidating GME input on DFM/DFT, FMEA, and yield issues for resolution. This role requires collaboration with various teams (NPI, CMs, ME/TE, PQE) to manage risks, qualify components, and ensure product readiness for mass production.
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent
- 8+ years manufacturing or product development experience
- Experience with PCBA, box/system manufacturing, testing, and qualification
- Root cause analysis and schematic reading skills
- Collaborate with contract manufacturers for issue resolution and improvement
Good to have:
- Technical lead experience in electrical hardware engineering
- Experience with Agile, BOM management, and product-specific test plans
- Experience with ODMs, contract manufacturers, and component suppliers for data center servers

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in manufacturing or product development.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience as a technical lead for an electrical hardware engineering project.
- Experience in product data management (e.g., Agile), PCBA, box/system manufacturing, test, and product qualification in the factory, PCBA troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and reading and understanding electrical schematics.
- Experience in working with contract manufacturers and suppliers to drive root cause analysis, corrective actions and process improvements.
- Experience in working with Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs), contract manufacturers and component suppliers for data center server.
- Experience in managing Bill of Materials (BOM), Product data management tools like Agile, product-specific test plans and evaluating test coverage.

In this role, you will engage in New Product Introduction (NPI) by consolidating GME input on Design for Manufacturability (DFM)/Design for Testing (DFT), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) items, and yield issues to be provided to the NPI team for resolution in order to meet the Product Life Cycle (PLC) phase exit criteria.

Responsibilities
- Govern the product FFF and test requirement for sustaining products.
- Lead NPI early engagement to drive deliverables from NPI (Bill of Materials readiness and multi-sourcing, First Pass Yield) Manufacturing Capabilities, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility, Design for X, SOP, Field Replaceable Unit, failure diagnostics, etc.) to meet mass production requirements before taking up sustaining ownership.
- Support product and component qualification builds at CMs/JDMs. Drive factory readiness and provide product training.
- Lead technical risk assessment for product changes, supply chain capabilities and impact to downstream. Work with PQE to validate product qualification plans. Work with CM, ME/TE, PQE to highlight risks and develop mitigation plans. Monitor and manage risk throughout the change process.
- Support second source part qualification. Coordinate release of BOMs in PDM for ECOs/MCOs.
