Cloud Chamber is looking for an engaged and team-oriented Production Director to provide daily leadership to our globally distributed production team. You are extremely well versed in the production workflows and processes of AAA console development; a master of work systems for feature and content pipelines.  Under the guidance and management of our Executive Producer you will mentor, support, and manage the team that oversees project and feature planning, balance scope with capacity, lead resource allocation, track progress, implement processes, and direct risks and mitigation.

To be successful in this role you should have a deep understanding of the iterative nature of creative processes and how to best coordinate them, previous experience building healthy, high functioning relationships with external and internal vendors, and be seen by your peers and superiors as a force multiplier for your team with a high EQ when it comes to leadership, management, empowerment, and motivation.


Job Details:

  • Define, implement, and appropriately refine the overall production strategy to align with the project’s quality, budget, and time constraints.
  • Establish and oversee production workflows, processes, and tools that enable efficient collaboration and ensure the team can meet both creative and project goals.
  • Work with department heads to ensure production processes support the game’s vision while maintaining feasibility within project constraints.
  • Continuously evaluate the game’s development progress and improve production processes to bolster the planning strategy, team efficiency, streamline workflows, and prevent bottlenecks with an eye towards innovation and improvement.
  • Introduce and implement project management methodologies that best support the project’s production needs, while keeping in mind the current context of the project’s development phase.
  • Regularly review and adjust production tools and techniques to improve productivity and ensure adaptability as project needs evolve.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Production Team, developing a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Clearly define roles and responsibilities within the production team, optimizing structure to maximize efficiency and support clear communication.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members to ensure that they have the resources and direction necessary to meet project expectations.
  • Oversee capacity planning for the project, ensuring that production teams are staffed and organized to handle the project’s scope and complexity.
  • Validate resource allocation and task prioritization with the team, adjusting as necessary to meet evolving project needs.
  • Ensure that all production activities align with the project’s budget requirements, and time constraints, balancing ambition with practicality.
  • Partner closely with the Associate Executive Producer and work with the Department Directors (Creative Director, Art Director, Technical Director, etc.) to ensure that production processes and timelines support the creative priorities.
  • Ensure that all production activities are conducted in a way that meets project goals, facilitating regular alignment sessions to keep the team on track.
  • Maintain an open and upbeat environment that encourages creativity and collaboration.
  • Identify and proactively address potential risks related to schedule, resources, or production alignment, developing contingency plans as needed in collaboration with the Associate Executive Producer and Executive Producer.
  • Lead efforts to solve cross-departmental production challenges, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and with minimal impact to the project timeline and budget.
  • Communicate production risks and solutions, ensuring transparency and stakeholder awareness of any significant project concerns.
  • Provide regular updates to the Executive Producer on production progress, capacity, risks, and resource needs.
  • Ensure consistent and transparent communication across all production departments, promoting clarity and alignment with project objectives; facilitate open discussions with department heads to maintain a shared understanding of project goals, adjusting production plans as needed to keep the project on track.
  • Prepare detailed reports on production performance, progress toward milestones, and any adjustments to production strategies for higher management and key stakeholders.

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in video game production, with at least 3+ years in a senior production role overseeing complex projects on at least 2 shipped AAA titles.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire AAA production teams, establish efficient structures, and maintain high standards of productivity and quality.
  • Strong expertise in defining and implementing production strategies that balance quality, budget, and time constraints.
  • Demonstrated experience in refining production workflows and implementing methodologies that enhance team efficiency.
  • Advanced understanding of project management principles, including experience managing schedules, budgets, and large-scale game development timelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to foster collaboration and ensure alignment across departments.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Lean production methodologies.
  • Knowledge of game engines, production tools, and other industry-standard software.
  • Ability to confidently advocate for your ideas while remaining open to and respectfully considering diverse perspectives.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and work styles, fostering a constructive and inclusive team environment.
  • Self-driven, inquisitive, and collaborative, with a flexible mindset that adapts to evolving challenges and new opportunities.

This role can be onsite, fully remote, or hybrid based in select locations within the United States. Below are the expected salary and wage ranges for applicants based in locations where the pay transparency law is in effect:

Colorado: $150,000 and $225,000 per year
California: $175,000 and $250,000 per year
New York State (inclusive of New York City): $175,000 and $250,000 per year
Washington: $150,000 and $225,000 per year

Base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees will also receive 14 paid holidays per calendar year, are eligible to earn a minimum of 15 days of vacation leave per year (subject to proration based on start date during the calendar year) and will receive 10 sick days per calendar year. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, 4 including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
