Program Manager – Hadoop Migration

Description

1. Program Leadership:
• Lead and manage the end-to-end migration program, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
• Define program scope, objectives, and success criteria in collaboration with key stakeholders.
2. Stakeholder Management:
• Engage with business, technical, and executive stakeholders to align project goals, manage expectations, and provide regular status updates.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications.
3. Project Planning and Execution:
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive project plan, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including IT, data engineering, analytics, and operations, to ensure project deliverables are met on time and within budget.
4. Risk and Issue Management:
• Identify potential risks and issues related to the migration and develop mitigation strategies.
• Proactively manage and resolve project conflicts, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines and quality.
5. Technical Oversight:
• Collaborate with technical leads to design and implement a robust migration strategy, considering data architecture, security, and performance.
• Plan & implement Hadoop decommissioning
• Ensure adherence to best practices for cloud migration, data governance, and compliance requirements.
6. Change Management:
• Develop and execute a comprehensive change management plan, including training, documentation, and support strategies to ensure successful adoption of the new platform.
• Facilitate smooth transition and knowledge transfer between teams.
• Manage user migration
7. Performance Tracking and Reporting:
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track program progress and effectiveness.
• Provide regular updates to senior leadership and stakeholders on project status, risks, and outcomes.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
• 8+ years of experience in program or project management, with a focus on large-scale data migration projects.
• Proven experience in managing cloud migration projects, particularly from Hadoop to Azure.
• Strong knowledge of cloud technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure, and big data frameworks like Hadoop, Spark, and Hive.
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
• PMP, PgMP, or related certification is preferred.
• Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.

• Experience with Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks).
• Familiarity with data governance and compliance frameworks.
• Experience in financial management and budget oversight for large-scale projects.
