Job Description

As a QA Programmer at Epic Games, you'll be part of a team responsible for testing, risk management, and quality evaluation of web frameworks used in marketing websites with millions of users. You'll collaborate with product owners and developers to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and plan testing coverage. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining automated test solutions (using Javascript, Java, or Python), building test strategies, executing various testing techniques (functional, qualitative, performance), analyzing product quality, troubleshooting defects, and reporting on data quality. You'll work in a highly autonomous environment, using a mix of manual and technical testing skills, contributing to the entire development lifecycle.
Must have:
  • 2+ years software testing experience
  • Understanding of test methodologies
  • Experience with automation tools (Javascript preferred, Java or Python)
  • Experience with Playwright or Cypress
  • Collaboration skills
  • Web technologies testing knowledge
  • CI/CD pipeline experience
Good to have:
  • Experience with RESTful web services

QUALITY ASSURANCE

What We Do

The Quality Assurance team owns the testing process, risk management, and quality evaluation of all products and functions across Epic. Our team works closely with developers and production to ensure the best possible user experience for our community and customers.

What You'll Do

We are looking for a QA Engineer for our Web Framework team. The team develops and mantains marketing related user facing websites visited by millions of users. People within the QA Programmer career track work with product owners, developers, and QA management to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and plan testing coverage for upcoming features/releases. You will develop and implement automation test strategies and utilize technical tooling to expand breadth and add depth to QA coverage of multiple features in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will facilitate functional, qualitative, and performance testing efforts while using a mix of manual and technical testing skills to execute a variety of testing techniques across your product to analyze and report on quality. You are expected to work in a highly autonomous environment embedded on a specific team or product while working closely with designers, programmers, and production staff, using a combination of quality assurance, data analysis, and technical skills to drive appropriate testing techniques early on in development through release cycles and beyond.

In this role, you will

  • Work with product owners, developers and QA management to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and plan testing coverage for upcoming features/releases
  • Develop, execute, and maintain automated test solutions to ensure high-quality software releases
  • Examine technical gaps and automation initiatives between geographically distributed teams, vendors, and agencies to deliver the highest quality product
  • Build test strategies and test plans to cover multiple features in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Use a mix of manual and technical testing skills to execute a variety of testing techniques across your product
  • Analyze the quality of the product while troubleshooting reported defects and internal issues 
  • Report and track for data quality, using that data to drive conversations around product quality and development health, supporting developers before, during, and after deployments 
  • Test communications between the client and backend services

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years of software testing experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid understanding of test methodologies and iterative development
  • Previous experience creating tools or automated solutions using Javascript (preferred), Java or Python
  • Experience developing automated test cases in Playwright or Cypress
  • Ability to confidently collaborate with senior members on technical topics and features
  • Technical understanding of testing web technologies, including automation, functional, qualitative, and performance against consistently iterative development
  • Experience with continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Experience with restful web services is a plus
