Job Description

This Security Engineer, Threat Research role at Google Cloud involves utilizing data analysis techniques with Jupyter Notebooks, Google Codelabs, Scipy, and Numpy. You'll apply Machine Learning (ML) or Artificial Intelligence (AI) to security datasets, track and detect threats at the Indicator of Compromise (IOC) level. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, 2 years of coding experience, and 2 years in cloud security, threat modeling, or detection engineering. Preferred qualifications include security research experience, malware analysis, and familiarity with security analysis tooling. Responsibilities include generating well-documented technical malware research and leveraging data analysis techniques to detect threats.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2 years coding experience
2 years cloud security experience
Data analysis using Jupyter Notebooks, Scipy, Numpy
Threat detection at IOC level

Good to have:

Security research experience
Malware analysis experience
Experience with security analysis tooling
Experience with Go, Python, or C++
Machine Learning/AI application to security datasets

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
2 years of experience with cloud security, threat modeling, or detection engineering.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in security research, malware analysis, or adjacent work.
Experience with Security Analysis tooling including Packet capture (PCAP), System logs, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM).
Experience with Go, Python, or C++ in the development of security tools.
Ability to generate well-documented technical malware research on request.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
