The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's degree in accounting (ACCA/MIA/CPA equivalent), 5-7 years of experience (2-3 years in a senior role), strong analytical skills, and knowledge of EU tax regulations.

Senior Accountant 

VGW is an interactive entertainment company, harnessing technology and creativity to deliver world-class, free-to-play games. 

Our finance team in Malta is currently looking for a Senior Accountant to join the team.

This role plays a crucial role in supporting the Financial Controller in managing and overseeing VGW’s financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and providing assistance with the strategic financial insights related to the VGW Malta companies. This role would suit an all rounder who is keen to work in a varied and fast paced position. 

Way of working: Hybrid, 3 days in the office.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with the preparation and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements, budgeting and reporting.
  • Assist in preparing month-end and year-end financial closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion as per VGW Group Timelines.
  • Assist in reconciling general ledger accounts and review journal entries.
  • Assist with tax compliance, including corporate tax, VAT/GST, and other applicable taxes.
  • Assist with preparing monthly tax provision calculations.
  • Developing ad hoc financial reports to assist management with decision-making.
  • Ongoing monitoring of actuals, to be able to highlight any anomalies or unexpected occurrences. 
  • Reviewing revenue and cost of sales calculations.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for improving financial processes and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy and assist with the implementation of approved new processes.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, ACCA/MIA/CPA equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5-7 Years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2-3 years in a senior accounting position is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the proven ability to analyse and communicate financial information to stakeholders.
  • A strong team player who can work autonomously when required.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in the budgeting process and prepare accurate financial forecasts.
  • Knowledge of EU corporate tax, VAT regulations, and other tax-related matters.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, auditing and accounting standards compliance.
  • Experience with software such as MS office Suite particularly Excel and GSuite. Knowledge of ZIP and NEtSuite is highly regarded.
