VGW is seeking a Senior People Partner to join their team in Toronto. This role involves acting as a strategic advisor to senior leaders, providing expert HR guidance to enhance performance and align people strategies with business objectives. The Senior People Partner will lead HR initiatives, manage complex employee relations issues, and deliver impactful people-focused solutions. Key responsibilities include advising executives on people strategy, leading workforce planning and organizational design, managing employee relations, driving cultural change and engagement, providing talent management guidance, leading change management, and collaborating with global P&C teams.
Must have:
  • 7+ years in Business Partnering
  • Degree/diploma in Human Resources Management
  • Tech company experience (startup/scale-up ideal)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively

We have an exciting opportunity to join our People Partnering team in Toronto and currently looking for a Senior People Partner.

In this role you will act as a strategic advisor to senior leaders, delivering expert HR guidance to drive performance and align people strategies with long-term business goals. You will lead the development of HR initiatives, manage complex employee relations matters, and provide impactful, people-focused solutions as a key member of the People Partnering team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Act as a trusted partner to executive and leadership teams on people strategy and matters, balancing business needs with global risk and local regulatory requirements;
  • Lead strategic workforce planning and organizational design initiatives using data-driven insights to drive efficiency, scalability, and performance;
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, including workplace investigations, ensuring compliance and best practices;
  • Drive cultural change initiatives and employee engagement strategies to foster high-performing, positive team environments;
  • Provide guidance on talent management, including succession planning and employee retention, to build a strong future-ready talent pipeline;
  • Lead and support change management initiatives, including team structures and realignments, to enable operational excellence and cross-functional collaboration;
  • Collaborate with global and cross-functional P&C teams to drive continuous improvement in HR practices, talent development, and employee experience.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Strong experience in Business Partnering, ideally 7+ years;
  • Degree/diploma in Human Resources Management;
  • Background working for tech companies is ideal, particularly in the start-up or scale-up phase;
  • A natural communicator with the ability to make the complex simple;
  • Ability to work autonomously with little or no supervision as well as part of a team that values collaboration;
  • Ability to be comfortable with flux and manage change in an effective way;
  • A results oriented mindset who can take big ideas away, synthesize them down into plans and execute on them.
