Job Description

Google is seeking a Software Engineer III for its Infrastructure, Core team. This role involves designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions critical to Google's flagship products. Responsibilities include writing product/system development code, participating in design reviews, code reviews, contributing to documentation, and triaging/resolving product/system issues. The ideal candidate will have experience with software development, data structures and algorithms, and ideally experience building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks. The Core team focuses on building central solutions, breaking down technical barriers, and strengthening existing systems across Google's products. This is a full-time position requiring strong technical expertise and leadership qualities.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years software development experience
  • 2+ years experience with data structures/algorithms
  • Code writing, design reviews, debugging
  • Contribute to documentation
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in CS or related field
  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure
  • Experience with accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, and/or experience with compute technologies, storage, and/or hardware architecture.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
