Software Engineer Intern, Tools and Infrastructure - Undergraduate
United States, San Mateo: this position must be performed in a hybrid capacity out of the SIE-PlayStation San Mateo, CA office.
About the Team:
At Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), the Engine Workflow Pipeline Team develops CI/CD pipelines and tools that standardize how PlayStation Network (PSN) engineers develop, test, and deploy applications. With team members across San Francisco, LA, San Diego, Tokyo, and Bangalore, this global team collaborates with product development and operations teams to create tools and infrastructure that help engineers deliver high-quality software faster. This is a unique opportunity to grow as an engineer. You will work closely with lots of product development teams, operations teams, and leadership inside the org and outside the organization to design and build tools and infrastructure to empower engineers to develop and deliver fast and produce high quality software, which will impact millions of PS5 users. We look for problem solvers, who can intuitively anticipate problems; look beyond immediate issues; and take initiative to tackle the most interesting challenges and diverse technical challenges of developing software at scale. We are open to adoption of the latest tools and techniques for solving the complex problems.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Understand and analyze continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) processes at SIE.
Gain an understanding of how container technologies, such as Kubernetes and Buildpack, are implemented at SIE.
Optimize CI/CD processes to increase the productivity of SIE engineers.
What We’re Looking For:
Currently enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related field, with an expected graduation by Spring 2026.
Experience with software development in languages such as Java, Groovy, Golang, Python, or Shell scripting.
Familiarity with container technology.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Eagerness to learn from and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes.
Eligibility:
Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th.
Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.
Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.
Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
