Position Description:

Trek Bicycle is looking for a Mobile Software Engineer who has experience working with native Android applications and dynamic, fast-paced teams. This person will work with a team of software engineers, and be responsible for implementation, specifying technical requirements, code quality, and software development and deployment processes. In addition to those items, the candidate should have experience working with business stakeholders, Analysts, and Project Managers to identify and implement technical solutions for business needs.

Trek IT believes in crafted software, in end-to-end ownership of products and fast iterations, and provides a flexible work environment. Remote work is available, but some travel may be required for this position. Our approach to software development is to use the best tool for the job, often taking advantage of the latest technology to solve complex problems.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop native Android applications.
  • Create test plans, test, debug, and document applications for Android applications.
  • Adhere and contribute to architectural, coding, design, quality, security, and performance standards.
  • Develop applications that interface with peripheral technologies.
  • Work with platforms like TestFlight and similar online services
  • Follow best practices for development such as continuous integration, unit and integration testing, performance testing, automated deployments, and code coverage analysis.
  • Assist in analyzing and troubleshooting issues and defects in environments as well as performance or design inefficiencies.
  • Stay current with the latest mobile development technologies, methods, and tools.
  • Be responsible for the quality, performance, and timeliness of your work.
  • Be ambitious and require minimal supervision.
  • Detail and communicate the awesome work that you do.
  • Actively participate in team ceremonies such as daily standup, planning and refinement sessions, and retrospectives.

Position Requirements:

  • BA in IT, Computer Science, or related field OR equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of related experience required.
  • Expertise with Kotin and Java, OOP design patterns, source control, and unit testing.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, VS App Center, Bitrise, Jenkins, or similar tools.
  • Experience interfacing and developing Bluetooth applications.
  • Mobile Data Structures, SQL, and general database knowledge.
  • Experience releasing and maintaining an enterprise-level Android application publicly available in Play Console.
  • Experience with Android mobile design patterns like MVC, MVVM, and Functional Reactive.
  • Experience in Android SDK (Android UI Principles, targeting multiple screen sizes, and writing code for multithreaded environment).
  • Experience monitoring mobile applications and end-user mobile application performance.
  • Experience working with RESTful web services.
  • Experience with agile methodologies is required.
  • Exceptional business & technical listening, oral, and written skills.
