Position Overview
As a Staff Software Engineer in Test, you will take ownership of testing duties responsibilities for specific modules or features. This involves devising test plans and crafting test cases. Your responsibilities encompass both manual and automated testing. Moreover, you'll design systems and configurations to manage system load, as well as tackle performance-driven test cases and optimization scenarios. Your role extends beyond just overseeing technical automation; it entails offering leadership and strategic guidance to an automation engineering team. You'll also engage proactively with our developers and customer support teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business and technical requirements for automation.
- Identify potential areas for automation and prioritize projects based on potential impact and feasibility.
- Design an automation framework that meets the technical and business requirements.
- Evaluate and select appropriate automation tools, frameworks, and technologies.
- Leading a team of automation engineers in developing automated solutions and frameworks.
- Write and review code/scripts for automation scripts and workflows.
- Propose and implement enhancements to existing automation processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Conduct testing and validation of automated processes to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Document best practices, guidelines, and standards for automation development within the organization.
- Mentor and coach the automation engineers, providing technical guidance and support.
- Ensure that automated processes adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations, and security protocols.
- Monitoring application performance and responding to incidents
- Work in a collaborative environment where you regularly pair, plan, and execute tasks as a team and strive to optimize your team’s Lead Time, Deployment Frequency, Mean-time-to-recovery, and Change Failure Rate.
- Actively participate in enhancing processes by consistently offering improvement suggestions during team retrospectives.
- Independently manage your deliverables in JIRA without others’ involvement.
What You Need To Succeed
- Minimum of a Bachelors degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a related field, with 5-10 years of software QA experience and contributing to full product lifecycles.
- Minimum 4 years of experience testing enterprise web applications, UI automation testing using Cypress/ WebdriverIO / Protractor / Selenium WebDriver, or any other BDD tools.
- Expert in at least one language such as JavaScript, Typescript, Python, C#, or Java. JavaScript and TypeScript is highly preferred.
- Designing test frameworks for test automation, test environments
- Good Knowledge of Software Development/Testing Life Cycle.
- Experience working with Agile and Kanban/Scrum processes.
- Experience in test data mocking/stubbing.
- Experience with continuous integration using Code Pipeline/Jenkins/Docker.
- Experience in automating Python applications. Experience in automating Serverless applications and CDK/Terraform.
- Knowledge of white box testing; knowledge of performance, load, and stress testing web applications.
- Experience in API testing.
- Good knowledge of SQL and writing queries. Experience in cross-browser testing.
