About the job:
As a Technical Solutions Consultant on the Mainline team, you'll play a key role in fostering strong partnerships with global partners and third-party solution providers. You'll be responsible for introducing and deploying new Android features, optimizing implementations, and ensuring successful integrations at scale. This role will allow you to leverage your technical expertise in Android, Linux, and device drivers to drive innovative projects and build long-term partnerships. You will work with our Mainline team, also known as Google Play System Updates, to deliver high-quality releases on time.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 9 years of experience in system design or programming
  • 9 years of experience in technical troubleshooting and partner management
  • 7 years of experience in the mobile/CE/embedded space with Android expertise
Good to have:
  • 3 years of customer-facing experience
  • Experience with mobile device release management
  • Experience with Android, Linux, Kernel, and device drivers
  • Experience with mobile operating systems and application ecosystems

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 9 years of experience in either system design or in one programming language (Java, C++, Python, etc.).
  • 9 years of experience in technical troubleshooting, and managing internal/external partners or customers.
  • 7 years of experience in the mobile/CE/embedded space, specifically working with Android and experience with the community driven software development process.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years of customer-facing experience, and helping drive complex customer technical activities.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: mobile device release management, mobile operating systems and application ecosystems.
  • Experience with Android, Linux, Kernel and Linux device drivers and lead updatability initiatives for major platforms.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with a track record of handling multiple customers.
  • Excellent problem-solving and investigative skills, combined with a strong sense of ownership, and a proactive can-do attitude.

About the job

In this role, you are responsible for working with our global partners and third-party solution providers, introducing and deploying new Android features, optimized implementations and integrations at scale. You drive new business opportunities and manage the overall technical aspects to build strong, successful, long-term partnerships. You are a technical expert with an entrepreneurial drive and an interest for partner management and will have the opportunity to drive the technical partner engagement for our most high-profile and innovative projects. You will work on our Mainline team which is also referred to as Google Play System Updates.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $171,000-$257,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of mainline software to partners by being the first point of contact for all partner issues, escalations, and feature requests.
  • Lead and deliver on Mainline's commitment to the partners and users on the quality and timeliness of the releases. Continue to improve/scale planning, execution and release processes.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders to influence decisions for onboarding new modules, driving partner adoption, managing partner expectations and prioritizing key partner requests.
  • Provide technical input and leadership to cross-functional teams as reviewer of design proposals and new initiatives. Drive the creation of new processes and tools as necessary to support the requirements of an ever changing device ecosystem.
  • Lead technical activities and incidents (internal/external) and drive solutions by providing actionable feedback and solutions. Delegate to and collaborate with various teams across Mainline.
