Job Description

Vertigo Games seeks a Technical Sound Designer to integrate audio into their next VR game using Unreal Engine. Responsibilities include researching and implementing new audio tools and techniques, owning the audio technology pipeline and custom toolset, ensuring audio performance, collaborating with audio designers on mixing and post-production, and creating documentation. The ideal candidate possesses several years of industry experience with Unreal Engine (blueprinting), understands audio pipeline tools and post-process plugins, and has strong collaboration skills. Experience with Unreal Engine 5 (MetaSounds), C++, middleware solutions (Wwise/FMOD), and VR is a plus.

Your mission
We are Vertigo Games, developers and publishers of top-end VR titles like Metro Awakening, Arizona Sunshine, After the Fall and The 7th Guest. Our Amsterdam studio has started development of our next VR game, following Metro Awakening, and we are looking to recruit a Technical Sound Designer who can aid us in our mission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Integrate the audio into our games, using the Unreal Engine.
  • Research and implement new tools and techniques to improve audio quality and efficiency for the development process of our games.
  • Own the audio technology pipeline and custom audio tool set, including required audio features.
  • Responsible for the performance aspects of the audio content and implementation.
  • Work together with audio designers on in-game audio mixing and post production.
  • Ensure the desired audio quality, together with the audio team and other disciplines involved.
  • Create documentation of the pipeline and features for the team.
Your profile
  • Several years of industry-related experience.
  • Previous working experience with Unreal Engine including blueprinting.
  • Good understanding of audio pipeline tools & audio post-process plugins.
  • Solid knowledge of studio audio equipment.
  • Passion for developing high quality audio in video games.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across teams.
  • Ability to quickly learn and master new software.
  • EU citizen or eligible to work in the EU without a visa.
Bonus points for
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5, specifically MetaSounds.
  • Scripting and/or programming (C++) knowledge.
  • Previous experience with middleware solutions such as Wwise and FMOD.
  • Experience in music production and integration.
  • Having worked with VR before.
