General Summary

The VFX Environment Modeler is responsible for creating CG environments and models that support the artistic goals and story concepts of the production.

Job Functions

  • Create and maintain 3D models for use in production.
  • Work with Environment Lead to help realize the aesthetic vision of the production.
  • Work with scan and survey data to reproduce or guide model aesthetic.
  • Adjust UVs and topology of model deliverables for downstream departments.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet the needs of all receiving departments.
  • Strictly follow quality standards established by Environments team.
  • Meet deadlines as established by production.
  • Participate in review session on a consistent basis.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ of feature film or relevant industry experience (CG and/or VFX).
  • Ability using Maya for the creation of both hard surface and organic models.
  • Understanding and experience in the creation and use of geometry assets in a production setting.
  • Knowledge of polygonal, Nurbs, and subdivision surface types.
  • Experience with Zbrush.
  • Familiarity with scripting in Python, MEL, or HScript, a plus.
  • Experience with Houdini, Speedtree, MODO, Mudbox, Photoshop, Inventor, TogoGun, a plus.
  • Life drawing and sculpting experience, a plus.
