Responsibilities:

As an Animation Director at LightSpeed Studios, you will oversee the animation development of a new and exciting game IP. Your role involves working closely with the Creative Director and core leadership team in defining and maintaining the animation vision, ensuring it aligns with the game's overall creative direction and resonates with a global audience. This role requires spearheading a global animation team, particularly focusing on collaboration with development units in China, Singapore, and other countries.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the animation vision and style of the game, ensuring a cohesive and immersive visual experience.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director and other Directors to ensure the animation complements and enhances the game’s narrative and gameplay.
  • Establish the Animation quality standard, pipelines, and processes for the studio.
  • Build and lead a creative core animation team. Also, mentor and inspire the broader team, promoting an environment that values creativity, professional growth, and diversity.
  • Balance aesthetic goals with technical constraints in collaboration with technical teams.
  • Supervise the production of all game animation assets, including character animation designs, animation for environments, and cinematics.
  • Maintain clear communication with the development team and stakeholders, ensuring alignment of animation and project goals.
  • Partner closely with design, tech, and other departments to ensure an efficient and effective game development process.

Requirements:

  • A degree in an art or animation-related domain or relevant animation or art experience.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in game art or related fields, with a demonstrated history of leading animation teams.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in creating animation for open-world RPGs or similar genres.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating animation talent and a keen eye for visual storytelling.
  • Participated in the full development cycle and shipped at least 1 complete AAA project.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Open-minded and receptive to different cultures and ideas.
  • Experience working with and leading teams from various countries around the world, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
  • A strong appreciation for diverse perspectives and the ability to integrate these into the creative process.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine.

The base pay range for this position in the state(s) above is $135,600 to $283,200 per year. Actual pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign on payment, relocation package, and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as other medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the specific position offered.
