Job Description

The Google Cloud team helps companies, schools, and government seamlessly switch to Google products and provides ongoing support. As a Cloud Technical Solutions Engineer, you'll troubleshoot technical issues, work with cross-functional teams (web developers, systems administrators, and international customers), and improve product supportability. Responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving customer problems, developing knowledge of Google's product technology, acting as a consultant for internal stakeholders, advocating for customer needs, and working as part of a global 24/7 support team. You'll improve products, tools, processes, and documentation, making them easier to adopt and use. This role requires fluent communication in both Japanese and English.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years experience in Web Tech, Data/Big Data, Systems Admin, Machine Learning, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, or SAP
  • Experience reading/debugging code (Java, C, C++, .NET, Python, Shell, Perl, JavaScript)
  • Fluent Japanese and English communication
  • Problem-solving and attention to detail
  • Troubleshooting technical problems for customers
Good to have:
  • Packet-level network performance troubleshooting
  • SQL/serverless/open source/Cloud networking/distributed computing experience
  • Customer advocacy and network infrastructure implementation/troubleshooting
  • Linux/Unix or Windows systems knowledge
  • Excellent communication and technical presentation skills

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience with two or more of the following: Web Tech, Data/Big Data, Systems Admin, Machine Learning, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, SAP.
  • Experience reading or debugging code using Java, C, C++, .NET, Python, Shell, Perl, or JavaScript.
  • Ability to communicate in Japanese and English fluently to communicate with external and internal stakeholders

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in Packet-level network performance troubleshooting and SQL/serverless/open source/Cloud networking/distributed computing.
  • Experience in customer advocacy and network infrastructure implementation or troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge in Linux/Unix or Windows systems (Kernel to Shell, file systems, protocols) and networking fundamentals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and technical presentation skills.

When customers cannot resolve issues themselves, your job is to ensure that we have the necessary tools and processes to swiftly resolve the issue with as little customer effort as possible.

You will troubleshoot technical problems for customers with a mix of debugging, networking, system administration, updating documentation, and when needed, coding/scripting. You use your experience to identify the root problem and improve supportability by working with a team of engineers and product managers. Responsibilities

  • Manage the customer’s problems through effective diagnosis, resolution, or implementation of new investigation tools to increase productivity for customer issues on Google Cloud Platform products.
  • Develop knowledge of Google's product technology and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, determining the root cause for customer reported issues, and building tools for faster diagnosis.
  • Act as a consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales, and customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud.
  • Understand customer issues and advocate for their needs with cross-functional teams including product and engineering teams to find ways to improve the product, and drive production.
  • Work as part of a team of Engineers/Consultants that globally ensure 24 hour customer support. This will include a need to sometimes work non-standard work hours or shifts.
