The role involves working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Analytics tools to provide reliable, high-quality data for business insights. The candidate will be working closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders.

A Little About Us: 

The Yahoo! Consumer Data Team manages a petabyte warehouse to glean insights on Yahoo Media products and to improve the experience for its massive user base. The team interacts and works across multiple organizations at yahoo to grow user engagement and user experience across yahoo's product portfolio. Your work will directly influence product changes and you will work with some of the brightest engineers you have known to improve the user experience on yahoo properties and contribute to company growth. Along the way, you will solve problems for an Internet Pioneer that is hard to match in the industry.

Summary:

We are seeking a Data Engineer with hands-on experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Analytics business intelligence tools. In this role, you will support the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and analytics solutions, working closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure reliable, high-quality data for business insights. The ideal candidate will have experience working with GA4 data, integrating it with tools like BigQuery, and leveraging GA’s native reporting features to support business analysis and decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, test, and maintain data pipelines using GCP services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and Cloud Storage.

  • Assist in designing and optimizing database schemas and data models for efficient storage and retrieval.

  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency by implementing validation checks and monitoring pipelines for errors.

  • Collaborate with team members to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights using BI tools.

  • Support the development and automation of dashboards and reports to visualize key metrics and trends.

  • Troubleshoot data issues and contribute to the ongoing improvement of data infrastructure and processes.

  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and new features in GCP and Google Analytics.

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related major, or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years experience with Google Cloud Platform ecosystem (BigQuery, Dataproc, Composer, Dataflow, Data Catalog, Oberservability) or AWS equivalent.

  • Experience working with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) data, including familiarity with event-based data models, custom dimensions/metrics, and user journey analysis.

  • Proficiency in extracting and integrating Google Analytics data using tools such as BigQuery, the Google Analytics Reporting API, or GA4 Data Streams for downstream analysis and reporting.

  • Comfortable using GA4’s built-in reporting and exploration tools (e.g., Explore reports, funnel/path analysis) to perform ad hoc analyses, identify trends, and support business decision-making.

  • Familiarity with data modeling, ETL processes, and business intelligence (BI) reporting tools such as Google Analytics or Looker.

  • Strong preference for candidates with hands-on Google Analytics BI experience.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
