Senior Data Scientist – Payments & Finance Analytics

This is a 12+ month contract opportunity, fully remote, offering the chance to work with cutting-edge technology and make a significant impact on platform growth.

As a Senior Data Scientist in the Payments and Finance Analytics (SPF) team, you will leverage advanced data science techniques to uncover key insights that drive platform performance. You'll dive into the complexities of financial systems and marketplace services, working cross-functionally to optimize payment methods and enhance the user experience. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in data science who is passionate about using data to influence strategic decisions and improve key performance metrics.

Responsibilities:

• Drive deep-dive analyses to uncover insights related to payment routing and performance.

• Design and lead experiments to test and optimize payment methods.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop data products and intelligent systems.

• Influence strategic decisions across payments, finance, and product teams.

• Build dashboards and tools that make insights accessible and actionable.

• Ensure data integrity and reproducibility across all your work.

Qualifications:

Must-Haves:

• Expert-level SQL skills, with experience in Python or R.

• 4+ years of experience in a product data science or analytics role (or a similar quantitative role).

• Strong background in root cause analysis, experimentation, dashboarding, and statistics.

• Proven ability to manage projects and stakeholders end-to-end.

• High attention to data quality and analytical rigor.

• Excellent communication and data storytelling skills.

• Adaptable and comfortable navigating ambiguity.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience in payments, finance, checkout, or e-commerce/marketplace products.

• Familiarity with anomaly detection, predictive analytics, or causal inference.

• Interest in collaborating with engineering teams to improve data pipelines and modeling.
