Job Description

The Director of Category Management will oversee Sabre’s category management teams and manage the procurement lifecycle for third-party vendors. Responsibilities include leading global procurement category managers, supporting strategic sourcing, analyzing spend, identifying sourcing opportunities, communicating category context, and driving standardization. The role requires strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to build relationships with vendors and internal teams. The candidate must be able to be onsite at headquarters 3+ days per week.
Must have:
  • Lead and support strategic sourcing activities.
  • Oversee spend analysis and identify sourcing opportunities.
  • Build strong working relationships with vendors.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing/procurement.
  • 10+ years of Leadership/Management experience.
Good to have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of ERP and Contract Management/Purchasing Systems (SAP and Coupa preferred).

The Director of Category Management will report to the Chief Procurement Officer based in Southlake, TX and will be responsible for overseeing Sabre’s category management teams and have ownership of the procurement lifecycle for all third-party vendors.

  • Provide leadership and guidance for global procurement category managers across all commodities (Hardware, Software, Telecom, Labor, Consulting, HR/Benefits, Financial Services, Marketing, Facilities, etc.).
  • Lead and support cross-functional strategic sourcing activities to support timely, cost-effective IT projects.   Questions conventional thinking and norms and provides alternatives that can improve outcomes.
  • Assist category managers with gathering, monitoring, interpreting and leveraging market intelligence data to better provide category expertise to BUs to influence sourcing strategies, supplier selections and sourcing decisions – with focus on cost savings and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee spend analysis for various categories and help to identify sourcing opportunities.  Work with category managers to develop and execute plans to capture sourcing opportunities.
  • Partner with category managers to convey category and contractual context and other information in response to queries from internal customers.  
  • Drive rationalization/standardization/consolidation of processes, goods and services throughout the global enterprise.  
  • Demonstrate strong communication (written and verbal), organization, accountability for results, ability to handle multiple priorities at the same time, problem-solving and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of management and employees. 
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key third party vendors, Procurement Operations, Contract Managers, BU/Stakeholder, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Risk and Security Teams.
  • Able to be onsite 3+ days per week at headquarters in Southlake, TX.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related discipline preferred. 
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management.
  • 10+ years Leadership/Management experience.
  • Strong supplier negotiation skills.
  • Customer/stakeholder and supplier management experience.
  • Self-starter and able to juggle multiple high priorities.
  • Works openly and collaboratively across all levels of management.
  • Knowledge of ERP and Contract Management/Purchasing Systems. (SAP and Coupa preferred).
