Job Description
World Relief is seeking a Kinders Camp Teacher to co-facilitate their annual summer camp for kindergarteners from refugee, immigrant and asylee backgrounds. The teacher will be responsible for planning and teaching lessons, coordinating field trips, managing the classroom, administering assessments, and engaging with parents and volunteers. Key responsibilities include designing curriculum, supervising activities, creating a safe learning environment, and providing support to volunteers. The teacher will also need to collaborate with the team, support transportation needs, and comply with agency policies. The position requires experience working with young children, particularly English language learners.
Must have:
- 2 years of experience with young children in an early learning program.
- AA or two years of college in a related field.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- King County Food Worker Card.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-cultural settings.
Good to have:
- Valid Driver’s License with background check.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- Lived immigrant experience.
- Knowledge of relevant languages (Dari, Ukrainian, Swahili, Arabic, Spanish).

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

This position is contingent upon the successful acquisition of additional funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on the availability of resources.
POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief seeks a Kinders Camp Teacher to co-facilitate WR’s annual summer camp (July 8- August 1, 2025, in Kent, WA) for kindergarteners from refugee, immigrant and asylee backgrounds. The Kinders Camp teacher will be responsible for planning and teaching lessons crafted to build and strengthen key kindergarten readiness skills, field trip coordination and oversight, classroom management, administering child and parent assessments, and parent and volunteer engagement.
- Co-design curriculum and daily schedule in coordination with the Programs coordinator using team teaching model.
- Submit supplies list to coordinator according to established timeline.
- Collaborate on behavior standards and positive support for children and parents/caregivers.
- Supervise and facilitate play-based learning activities for up to 30 students entering kindergarten in September 2025, including large group instruction, STEM and art activities, outdoor play, and small group targeted learning.
- Create a safe, engaging, language-rich, trauma-informed learning environment ensuring each child receives the care and support needed.
- Provide leadership and support to volunteers and interns.
- Supervise lunch and snack times, supporting and modeling appropriate mealtime behavior.
- Assist in planning and facilitating outdoor activities, field trips, and community partner visits.
- Prepare materials for STEM and process-based art projects before camp, including examples for children to follow.
- Maintain clean and orderly learning spaces.
- Steward learning materials and camp host facility carefully.
- Collaborate on a positive behavior plan for all children and focused planning for children who benefit from high support.
- Review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or other disability service plans and collaborate with teaching team and parents on ensuring quality care.
- Support with any transportation needs of families including driving them to and from the camp.
- Administering assessments, and other data and reporting tasks, including completing or compiling day-to-day paperwork.
- Comply with all agency policies and protocols. Other related tasks as assigned.

- At least 2 years of formal experience working with young children in an early learning program, ideally English language learners
- AA or two years of college in a related field (i.e., education, child development, school counseling, TESOL)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- King County Food Worker Card
- Demonstrated ability to work sensitively and effectively in cross-cultural settings.
- Valid Driver’s License required, passing motor vehicle background check and any additional background screening required by WRWW.
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, collaboratively and positively with students, volunteers, other teachers, and World Relief Staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle or organize multiple tasks at one time.
- Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly changing environment.
- Individuals with lived immigrant experience encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of relevant languages preferred but not required, including but not limited to Dari, Ukrainian, Swahili, Arabic, and Spanish.
