Job Description

The Lead Vehicle Artist will guide the development of vehicle assets, ensuring adherence to world-class art standards and technical specifications. Responsibilities include working from concept models to create fully functional, flyable assets; collaborating with designers and technical artists; maintaining high modeling, texturing, and material creation standards; delivering animation-ready solutions (landing gear, cockpits, etc.); mentoring team members; collaborating on estimations and job planning; and providing/receiving feedback. The role requires experience managing artistic teams, hard surface modeling, proficiency in 3DS Max and Photoshop, a keen eye for industrial design, and a strong understanding of asset creation and modular kit-based construction methodologies.

Que ferez-vous ?

  • Supervisez le développement des assets de véhicules avec une équipe d'artistes. Vous vous assurerez que l'équipe respecte nos normes artistiques de classe mondiale et suit nos standards techniques. 
  • Travailler à partir de modèles et d'images conceptuels pour les transformer en œuvres d'art entièrement fonctionnelles et pilotables  
  • Collaborer avec les concepteurs, les artistes techniques et les studios partenaires pour comprendre et mettre en œuvre les exigences correctes en matière de dénomination des fichiers et de structure des répertoires dans les limites du moteur  
  • Au sein d'une équipe, maintenir les normes élevées de modélisation, de texturation, de création de matériaux PBR et d'indications de conception du fabricant afin de fournir des modèles cohérents et de haute qualité  
  • Travailler avec les artistes techniques et les animateurs pour fournir des solutions "prêtes pour l'animation", des trains d'atterrissage, des cockpits, des portes de chargement, des sièges éjectables, etc... 
  • Encadrer les autres membres de l'équipe avec ce que vous avez appris à maîtriser 
  • Collaborer avec la direction et la production pour les estimations ainsi que la planification des tâches 
  • Donner et recevoir du feedback de son équipe  

Qu'attendons-nous de notre Responsable Artiste Véhicule ?

  • Expérience en gestion d'équipes artistiques 
  • Travailler et communiquer efficacement avec des designers et autres disciplines dans un processus de développement collaboratif orienté équipe 
  • Expérience en modélisation et Hard Surface  
  • Bonne connaissance pratique de 3DS Max et de Photoshop  
  • Avoir le souci du détail tout en restant efficace dans l'élaboration des modèles  
  • Un sens aigu du design industriel  
  • Avoir une solide compréhension de la création d'assets et des méthodologies de construction à base de kits modulaires  
  • Repousser la qualité de l'art en matière de fidélité des assets et de techniques de production

What will you do?

  • Guide the development of vehicles assets with a team of artists. You will ensure the team is meeting our world class art standards and following our technical standards. 
  • Work from concept models and images to turn them into fully functional, flyable works of art  
  • Collaborate with designers, technical artists, and partner studios to understand and implement correct file naming and directory structure requirements within the engine’s limitations  
  • As part of a team, maintain the high standards of modelling, texturing, PBR material creation, and manufacturer design cues to provide consistent and high-quality models  
  • Work with technical artists and animators to deliver ‘animation ready’ solutions, landing gear, cockpits, cargo doors, ejection seats etc... 
  • Mentor other team members with what you have learned to master 
  • Collaborate with management and production on estimates and job planning 
  • Give and receive feedback from your team 

What do we expect from our Lead Vehicle Artist?

  • Experience in managing artistic teams 
  • Work and communicate effectively with designers and other disciplines in a team-oriented collaborative development process 
  • Hard surface modelling experience  
  • Good working knowledge of 3DS Max and Photoshop  
  • An eye for detail while maintaining efficient model making  
  • A keen eye for industrial design  
  • Have a solid understanding of asset creation and modular kit-based construction methodologies  
  • Pushing the quality of art in terms of asset fidelity and production techniques

Cloud Imperium Games is a new kind of independent studio dedicated to delivering AAA experiences outside the established publisher system, founded by Chris Roberts, creator of the best selling Wing Commander and Freelancer series, Cloud Imperium is currently developing Star Citizen, a record-shattering crowd funded title that combines classic space sim gameplay with Hollywood-caliber visuals.
