Our Story and Purpose

Linden Lab develops platforms that empower people to create, connect, and thrive through transformative virtual experiences. Since our founding in 1999, we’ve been at the forefront of the creator economy, building platforms that inspire limitless imagination and innovation.

In 2003, we revolutionized the virtual world with the launch of Second Life—a vibrant, user-driven community where creativity knows no bounds. With nearly two billion user creations and a flourishing $650 million economy, Second Life continues to be a global hub for collaboration, self-expression, and entrepreneurship.

We believe our strength lies in diversity—of perspectives, experiences, and ideas. Our values are rooted in organizational health, strengths-based leadership, and the belief that collaborative teams are stronger than individuals.

At Linden Lab, you’ll be at the cutting edge of virtual worlds, shaping the future of immersive experiences. Whether you’re building innovative tools or fostering a welcoming community, you’ll find a place to belong, thrive, and be unapologetically yourself. We invite you to come as you are.

Your Mission

The People Experience Partner is a strategic builder and operator responsible for shaping programs that define how employees grow, thrive, and stay connected to the business. Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, this role leads key initiatives across learning and development, performance enablement, recognition, internal communications, and employee advocacy, helping translate company priorities into systems and experiences that drive clarity, accountability, and belonging.

This is a high-impact role for someone who brings both creative thinking and executional discipline, and who understands how to scale culture through strong systems, intentional communication, and manager enablement. You'll work across functions, coach leaders, and design programs that not only reflect where we are today, but push us toward the company we want to become.

How You’ll Grow With Us

At the Lab, you'll experience the best of both worlds: the stability of an established company with over 20 years of expertise and the dynamic momentum of a startup driven by continuous progress. You'll have the unparalleled opportunity to forge meaningful relationships, design impactful systems, and craft strategies that shape the future of virtual experiences.

You’ll be joining a People team that challenges traditional thinking and operates with the mindset of product leaders. We treat the employee experience as an evolving system—something to research, design, test, and continuously improve. Our work is driven by insight, built with intention, and delivered with the same rigor and creativity as any core product in the business. We don’t default to HR convention—we’re interested in what moves the needle, not what checks the box.

We define culture as an operating system: the set of behaviors, expectations, and decisions that shape how work really gets done. We embed that source code into everything we own—from onboarding and feedback to recognition and performance—ensuring that our systems scale culture with purpose and integrity. If you’re energized by refining what’s great, fixing what’s not, and building what’s missing, you’ll find your people here.

Our vibrant in-office environment in San Francisco is designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and ingenuity. With spaces purpose-built for brainstorming, team building, and spontaneous conversations, you'll find endless opportunities to engage and grow. We believe in the power of in-person connections to cultivate a strong sense of community and inclusion, ensuring that your ideas are valued, your contributions celebrated, and your impact deeply felt every day.

This role will follow a hybrid schedule, requiring in-office presence at our San Francisco office from Monday to Thursday.

The Impact You’ll Drive

Learning & Development

  • Design and deliver relevant learning experiences in lightweight, scalable formats that meet real-time business needs—from onboarding to manager development to peer-led knowledge sharing.

  • Partner with functional leaders to identify skill gaps and build learning plans that drive individual growth and strengthen team capabilities.

  • Maintain and continuously improve a structured onboarding experience that builds connection, context, and confidence from day one.

  • Develop learning materials infused with creativity and storytelling to reflect our culture and make learning engaging, impactful, and memorable.

Performance Enablement & Career Growth

  • Redefine performance enablement as a transparent process grounded in feedback and alignment—so every employee knows where they stand and how to grow.

  • Equip managers with tools, training, and frameworks for effective goal setting, feedback, coaching, individual development plans, and structured 1:1s that drive clarity, accountability, and development.

  • Design user-centered systems and experiences that elevate onboarding, learning, and performance—owning the Lattice platform end to end, including configuration, workflow design, and administration.

  • Develop clear career progression frameworks and promotion processes that support internal mobility and empower managers to lead meaningful development conversations

Rewards & Recognition

  • Design and deliver scalable, high-impact recognition programs that celebrate employee contributions in meaningful, personalized ways.

  • Plan and coordinate intentional moments of connection, including in-person and virtual gatherings, to foster belonging and strengthen our cultural fabric.

  • Coach managers on how to spotlight their team members’ work for leadership visibility and team-wide acknowledgment.

  • Monitor the reach, equity, and impact of recognition efforts, and use insights to continuously improve how and when we celebrate contributions.

Internal Communication Strategy & Employee Engagement

  • Shape and execute a transparent, human-centered internal communications strategy that promotes clarity, connection, and cultural alignment.

  • Own the development of polished, purposeful content across People Team channels—from day-to-day updates to major rollouts, All Hands decks, benefits materials, People Team blog, and cultural moments—ensuring consistency in tone, voice, and impact.

  • Equip managers with the messaging, context, and tools they need to reinforce company-wide messages and lead effective conversations with their teams.

  • Enhance listening practices—such as pulse check-ins, surveys, and engagement check-ins—to analyze and understand engagement trends, drive continuous improvements, and support a responsive, inclusive culture.

Employee Relations & Advocacy

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, offering early guidance, clarifying expectations, and addressing challenges with a focus on fairness and clarity.

  • Coach managers on navigating conflict, giving and receiving feedback, and approaching interpersonal dynamics with empathy and accountability.

  • Support employees in practicing direct, respectful communication and resolving issues collaboratively whenever possible.

  • Identify themes in employee sentiment and team dynamics, surfacing insights to inform manager development, policy refinements, and broader organizational health.

Spreadsheet fluency and analytical thinking to build compelling business cases and translate people data into actionable insights.

Experienced in coaching managers and employees through challenging conversations and interpersonal dynamics, with a balanced, empathetic, and solution-oriented approach.

Highly skilled in creating and facilitating training and development experiences, particularly for new hires and people managers.
Proven ability to design and improve people systems and programs using employee feedback, engagement data, and sentiment analysis.

  • Expertise in resolving complex interpersonal and team dynamics, with the ability to navigate sensitive issues, maintain thorough documentation, and conduct fair, compliant investigations with integrity, discretion and neutrality.

  • Hands-on experience with tools like Lattice, including workflow design, configuration, survey management, and system administration.

Strong project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to balance multiple timelines and adjust quickly to evolving business needs.

  • Demonstrated success integrating AI and automation into People Experience programs to streamline processes and internal communications, enhance personalization, and support more timely, data-informed decision-making with actionable insights.

If you don’t meet every requirement listed for this role, we still encourage you to apply. Too often, the confidence gap or imposter syndrome keeps exceptional candidates from taking the leap—and we don’t want that to hold you back. If you believe in our mission and in your ability to make an impact, we want to hear from you!
