Job Description

Google's Platform Kernel Engineer, ChromeOS will work on Linux kernel and drivers for ChromeOS. This role will involve debugging system level bugs by diving into logs and crashes, uncovering the root causes of customer issues and driving solutions to enhance the user experience. The engineer will collaborate with technology teams to bring cutting-edge SoC power solutions to life, enabling peak performance and efficiency. They will design innovative tools and services that pinpoint and resolve kernel and application bottlenecks. The role also involves contributing to the open-source community by upstreaming kernel patches, ensuring the stability and security of ChromeOS for all users.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development coding in C, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree
  • Experience working on the Linux kernel
  • Experience with debugging
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields
  • Experience in Rust programming

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
