As a Product Manager II, Google Chat Experience, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Chat, a core application within Google Workspace used by millions globally. You'll work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch, connecting the technical and business worlds. Your focus will be on core user needs and innovative AI-powered experiences, ensuring Chat remains a leading tool for connecting, collaborating, and getting work done. Responsibilities include defining and advocating for product goals, strategies, and roadmaps, conducting user research and data analysis, translating user needs into detailed specifications, prioritizing and managing the product backlog, collaborating with engineers, designers, researchers, and marketers, launching and iterating on new products and features, and making data-driven decisions to optimize user experience.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in product management or related technical role
  • 2 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch
  • Experience working with Gen AI or machine learning technologies
  • Experience in productivity or communication products
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in a technology or business related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 3 years of experience in a business function or role (e.g., marketing, business operations, consulting)
  • 3 years of experience in a role preparing and delivering technical presentations to executive leadership
  • 2 years of experience in software development or engineering
  • 2 years of experience working cross-functionally with engineering, UX/UI, sales finance, and other stakeholders
  • 1 year of experience in technical leadership

We are looking for a passionate and driven Product Manager to join the Google Chat Experience team! Chat is a core application within Google Workspace, used by millions of people around the world to connect, collaborate, and get work done.

In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of Chat, focusing on core user needs and innovative AI-powered experiences.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define and advocate the product goal, strategy, and roadmap for core Chat features and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered experiences, ensuring alignment with the overall Google Workspace strategy.
  • Understand user needs and pain points through user research, data analysis, and market research.
  • Translate user needs into detailed product specifications and use cases. Prioritize and manage the product backlog, ensuring that the team is working on the most impactful features.
  • Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, researchers, and marketers to bring product to life.
  • Launch and iterate on new products and features, analyzing their performance and making data-driven decisions to optimize user experience.
