Job Description

As a Senior Technical Animator at Camouflaj Game Studio, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining performant real-time animations and characters within Maya and Unity. Your responsibilities include creating rigs, integrating assets into Unity, and developing tools and pipelines to facilitate the workflows of animators and character artists. You will collaborate with various teams, including animators, artists, designers, engineers, and producers. Moreover, you will guide and mentor other technical animators, ensuring best practices and staying updated with emerging trends in animation and rigging technology. This role requires a high degree of collaboration and a commitment to creating high-quality VR games.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Animator/Artist.
  • Experience maintaining/developing existing codebase of tools.
  • Experience creating tools for Maya and Motion Builder with Python.
  • Proficient with creating body & face rigs and skinning in Maya.
  • Experience in model topology and directing character artists.
  • Experience with animation controllers and state machines.
  • Experience working in Unity and using C# or equivalent.
  • Experience in 3D math skills like linear algebra and matrix math.
  • Experience giving and receiving feedback in a collaborative setting.
Good to have:
  • Experience in VR development.
  • Experience with Maya C++ API.
  • Experience with Motionbuilder.
  • Familiarity with FACS based character rigs and facial tracking.
  • Familiarity with motion capture workflows.

Camouflaj, the award winning team behind BATMAN: ARKHAM SHADOW, IRON MAN VR and RÉPUBLIQUE is looking for an experienced Technical Animator to join our team of seventy talented developers who collectively pursue the goal of creating high quality, meaningful VR games in an open, honest, and respectful environment. As a Technical Animator you’ll work closely with animators, artists, designers, engineers and producers to develop and maintain performant real-time animations and characters within Maya and Unity. You’ll create rigs, integrate assets into Unity, and develop tools and pipelines to facilitate the workflows of animators and character artists.
Senior Technical Animator, Camouflaj Game Studio Responsibilities
  • Develop content creation pipelines and tools for the animation and character art teams.
  • Create rigs for characters and props.
  • Help integrate assets from Maya to Unity and troubleshoot issues.
  • Guide animation and character art teams on best authoring practices for optimized in-game assets.
  • Work with art teams to ensure designs will work with animations.
  • Collaborate with designers and gameplay engineers to develop animation features.
  • Collaborate with producers on planning and scheduling.
  • Mentor and train other technical animators on best practices and give code reviews.
  • Keep up to date with emerging trends in animation and rigging technology.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Technical Animator or Technical Artist.
  • Experience maintaining and further developing an existing codebase of tools.
  • Experience creating tools for Maya and Motion Builder with Python.
  • Proficient with creating body & face rigs and skinning in Maya using proprietary tools.
  • Experience in model topology and directing character artists with best practices.
  • Experience with animation controllers and state machines using Mecanim or equivalent.
  • Experience working in Unity and using C# or equivalent.
  • Experience in 3D math skills such as linear algebra and matrix math.
  • Experience giving and receiving feedback in a highly collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in VR development.
  • Experience with Maya C++ API.
  • Experience with Motionbuilder.
  • Familiarity with FACS based character rigs and facial tracking.
  • Familiarity with motion capture workflows.
