As a Software Engineer II, Shopping Metrics, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions for Google's shopping products. You will work with a team of engineers to design, implement, and test new features and improvements. You will also be responsible for debugging and resolving issues with existing code. This role requires a strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software development principles. You should also be comfortable working with large datasets and have experience with Go, SQL, or C++. The ideal candidate will be able to drive the impact/outcome of the work rather than the technical complexity of the solution. They will also have excellent data analysis skills. Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript)
  • 1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms
  • Write product or system development code
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders
  • Review code developed by other developers
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content
Good to have:
  • Experience with Go, SQL, or C++
  • Ability to drive the impact/outcome of the work rather than the technical complexity of the solution
  • Excellent data analysis skills
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
