Software Engineer, Player Engagement

Our Player Engagement team builds features that bring gaming experiences directly into Discord, creating deeper connections between players and their favorite games. What you'll do

• Develop features that integrate gaming data and experiences directly into the Discord platform
• Collaborate with design, product, data science and other engineers to introduce new features used by our +180M monthly active users
• Work on systems that help users discover and engage with their gaming communities
• Participate at all levels of ideation, implementation and release

What you should have

• 3+ years experience as a software engineer with familiarity working in web and backend stacks
• Experience building user-facing features that drive engagement
• A focus on impact. Gaming is central to Discord's identity, but we have exciting opportunities to deepen these connections! You want to work with engineers, product managers, designers, and gaming partners to define great solutions to ambiguous problems.
• Attention to detail and an eye for user experience. You care about shipping high quality features that delight our users and keep them engaged.
• A growth mindset. You view mistakes as learning opportunities and build upon your successes. You challenge yourself and those around you to improve.
• A strong sense of shared ownership. You don't believe that anything is someone else's problem and are willing to explore unfamiliar parts of the tech stack to understand how it works and develop new expertise.

• Personal experience using Discord for gaming communities
• Knowledge of gaming APIs or experience working with gaming data
• Familiarity with React, TypeScript, Python, or Rust
• Interest in gaming and gaming communities

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000 to $180,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
