The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, financial modeling expertise (MS Excel), excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The Subscriber Planning team within DTC Finance is a highly visible team of professionals with backgrounds in consulting, investment banking, private equity, media & entertainment, and technology. This team serves as in-house advisers to the TWDC’s DTC executive leadership team and own the subscriber, engagement, and revenue growth planning functions. The team’s activities and accomplishments have contributed directly to the rapid growth and success of the Disney’s suite of streaming services: Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an Analyst that will play a key role in growing our direct-to-consumer business, with a focus on Subscriber Planning for the United States and Canada. This Analyst will support the subscriber forecasting process through thorough analysis of business trends and forecast model development and improvement. They will provide subscriber variance transparency through regular reporting to Subscriber Planning leadership and support the evaluation of strategic initiatives. Workstreams include but are not limited to modeling the impacts of new product offerings, developing and tracking KPIs to drive execution, monitoring performance of the service, and more. They will also collaborate closely with stakeholders from Hulu, ESPN+, Data & Analytics, Marketing, Business Operations, and Executive Reporting.

The right person for this role has phenomenal analytical skills, experience working with large data sets and building complex financial models, sets a high bar for themselves, and displays initiative in anticipating and exceeding the business demands of the key stakeholders. This role will be data-focused, responsible for sharing business insights, providing strategic recommendations, and influencing key operational decisions.

The pace of change at Disney’s DTC businesses necessitates an ability to manage multiple projects, collaborate with a range stakeholders, and roll up sleeves to support this important segment of the Disney business.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Manage and enhance the Domestic Subscriber forecast process & key underlying assumptions with a focus on the Disney’s DTC bundles (with Hulu, ESPN+, and Max)

  • Lead and support strategic ad hoc analysis to highlight KPI trends, opportunities / risks to plan, size new product offerings, etc

  • Develop impactful, compelling presentation materials (decks, notes, write-ups, backup materials, etc.) that effectively communicate outlooks, drivers, business performance, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership

  • Act as a point of contact for operational support teams (Business Operations, Data & Analytics, Executive Reporting, Marketing, Hulu, & ESPN+, to name a few) and ensure alignment on key assumptions and understanding of KPIs

  • Move seamlessly between different research projects and analysis raised by team leaders to inform decision-making

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Finance, Economics or similar discipline with an analytical focus

  • 0 - 2 years of strategy or finance experience with a media & entertainment firm, management consultancy, or investment bank / private equity firm

  • Strong analytical capabilities and financial modeling skills (MS Excel), including the ability to build models from scratch

  • Ability to work well in teams, both within the group and also with other business units

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including PowerPoint) and ability to simplify complex matters for an executive audience

  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects at the same time, while keeping management properly informed

  • Familiarity with working in or with global, large organizations is a plus

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $82,000.00 to $109,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
