Job Description

The Technical Character Artist will collaborate closely with the Character Art and technical teams to produce high-quality, technically sound art content for Star Citizen. Responsibilities include character skinning in Maya, creating and enhancing tools using Python, optimizing assets for the game engine, ensuring proper integration and functionality, and achieving optimal artistic results. This role requires strong character skinning knowledge, experience with Maya and Python, and familiarity with game engine integration. The ideal candidate will be adept at problem-solving and managing multiple priorities.
Must have:
  • Experience as a Technical Artist in the video game industry
  • Strong comprehension of character skinning
  • Experience in Character clothes dynamics
  • Proficiency in Maya and Python
  • Game engine integration experience
Good to have:
  • Exposure to data tables and character customization
  • Familiarity with Maya API
  • Exposure to Hair simulation
  • Experience with Houdini

Que ferez-vous ?

  • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec l’équipe de Personnages et autres équipes techniques pour produire du contenu artistique qui est propre techniquement
  • Utiliser Maya pour skin les personnages à travers notre pipeline de production
  • Utiliser Python pour créer des outils et améliorer les outils existants
  • S’assurer que les assets sont optimisés proprement et les intégrer dans l’engin
  • Travailler en collaboration avec l’équipe pour s’assurer que les assets fonctionnent correctement, tout en ayant les meilleurs résultats artistiques possibles

Qu'attendons-nous de notre Artiste Technique Personnage ?

  • Expérience en tant qu'artiste technique dans l'industrie du jeu vidéo, avec une expérience de travail avec des équipes d'art de personnages
  • Solide compréhension du skinning de personnages
  • Expérience dans la dynamique des vêtements de personnage
  • Exposition aux tables de données et à la personnalisation des personnages
  • Capacité à travailler dans un moteur de jeu et à intégrer des actifs dans un moteur
  • Expérience avec Maya
  • Utilisation de Python pour créer des outils destinés aux artistes
  • Familiarité avec l'API Maya ; un atout
  • Exposition à la simulation capillaire ; un atout
  • Expérience avec Houdini ; un atout
  • Résoudre des problèmes techniques et jongler avec différentes priorités

What will you do?

  • Work closely with the Character Art team and other technical teams to help produce technically correct art content
  • Use Maya to skin characters within our existing pipeline
  • Use Python to create tools and enhance existing tools.
  • Check assets in terms of technical setup for their usage in Star Citizen.
  • Work in collaboration with the team to make sure assets work correctly while achieving the best possible results

What do we expect from our Technical Character Artist?

  • Experience as a Technical Artist in the video game industry, with experience working with Character Art teams
  • Strong comprehension of character skinning
  • Experience in Character clothes dynamics
  • Exposure to data tables and character customization
  • Ability to work within a game engine and integrating assets into an engine
  • Experience using Maya
  • Using Python to create small tools for artist use; an asset
  • Exposure to Hair simulation; an asset
  • Experience with Houdini; an asset
  • Solving technical problems and juggling different priorities
