Job Description
Wabtec is seeking an Assembly Operator to manually assemble high-precision components and VSR balance the CHRA element of a turbo, adhering to established output, safety, and quality standards. This role involves following manufacturing procedures, collecting materials, ensuring correct part fitting, and operating assembly tools safely. The operator will also conduct quality control checks, test finished products, report issues, and perform maintenance. Must have:
- Manually assemble high precision components and VSR balance the CHRA element of a turbo.
- Follow established manufacturing procedures.
- Collect materials needed to assemble products.
- Ensure correct fitting of all parts.
- Determine availability of materials and tools.
- Set up all parts necessary for production.
- Follow technical instructions and build sheets to assemble parts and products.
- Use tools and machinery to position, align, join, and test components.
- Read and confirm parts list, measurements, and verify specifications.
- Operate all assembly tools and equipment safely.
- Adhere to health and safety requirements.
- Follow established safety and efficiency procedures.
- Assemble turbo/core components accurately and timely.
- Use specialist machinery to balance assembled cores.
- Conduct quality control checks and test finished products for defects.
- Report progress, issues, and suggestions to supervisors or managers.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
- Resolve minor issues or escalate issues to supervision.
- Perform preventive maintenance and report/resolve assembly issues.
- Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and work area.
- Record non-conforming components.

- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good physical stamina
- Ability to lift heavy pieces of equipment
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while standing for long periods

- Assemble turbo/core components in an accurate and timely manner
- Use specialist machinery to balance assembled cores to required specifications
- Conduct quality control checks and test finished products for defects.
- Report progress, issues, and suggestions to supervisors or managers.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and resolve minor issues or escalate issues to supervision appropriately.
- Perform preventive maintenance and report/resolve assembly issues.
- Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and work area.
