Tesla seeks a Business Development Manager to accelerate energy storage deployment in the EMEA region. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities, collaborating with sales and engineering teams to create innovative solutions (financing models, policy proposals), and advocating Tesla's vision to key stakeholders (utilities, regulators, financers). The ideal candidate possesses strong communication, strategic thinking, and financial analysis skills, with proven experience presenting to executive teams. A deep understanding of the energy sector and energy storage technologies is crucial. The role requires a proactive, entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving and relationship building.

What to Expect

The energy storage market is expanding rapidly, and to accelerate its growth, it is necessary to address several barriers. Tesla is committed to overcoming these challenges to unlock even greater opportunities for energy storage deployments. This role will be central to driving this change. 

The ideal candidate will possess an entrepreneurial and business development mindset, with the ability to quickly diagnose challenges, identify effective solutions, and mobilize resources across Tesla’s policy, product, sales, and engineering teams to implement them. Additionally, the role requires strong storytelling abilities to effectively engage with executive teams from utilities, regulators, and developers, understand their challenges, and craft compelling narratives that inspire change. 

What You’ll Do
  • Accelerate Energy Storage Deployment: Eliminate obstacles hindering the adoption of battery energy storage solutions in the EMEA region. 

  • Opportunity Identification: Collaborate with the sales team to build strong relationships with customers, utilities, and regulators, gaining insights into the key challenges to achieving 100% renewable energy. 

  • Solution Design: Partner with product, engineering, and policy teams to create innovative solutions, from developing new financing models to crafting policy proposals and building essential tools and resources. 

  • Advocacy: Persuade critical industry stakeholders (utilities, ISOs, policymakers, financers, etc.) to embrace Tesla’s vision for the future of energy. 

What You’ll Bring
  • Industry Expertise: Extensive understanding of the energy sector, with deep knowledge of energy storage technologies and their value propositions. 

  • Exceptional Communication: Strong skills in communication, strategic thinking, financial analysis, and program management. 

  • Executive Engagement: Proven ability to present to external executive teams, preferably in a sales or business development capacity. Established network within the energy industry is highly advantageous. 

  • Entrepreneurial Approach: A self-starter capable of exploring and qualifying opportunities with minimal guidance. 

  • Experience: 6+ years in the energy industry, 

  • Preferred Qualification: Industry Connections: Background working at or closely with utilities, grid operators, banks, or independent engineering firms is a strong plus.
