About the job

We are seeking a skilled Character Artist with a deep understanding of Unreal Engine to join our dynamic team. As a Character Artist, you will play a crucial role in creating visually stunning and immersive 3D characters for our projects. You will collaborate closely with our art, design, and development teams to bring characters to life in the Unreal Engine environment.


Responsibilities:



  • Create high-quality, visually appealing character models, textures, and materials optimized for real-time rendering in Unreal Engine.
  • Collaborate with the artist, concept artists, and designers to ensure character designs meet project requirements and vision.
  • Implement character animations and rigging using Unreal Engine's animation system.
  • Optimize character assets for performance and memory usage, ensuring efficient rendering on target platforms.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and techniques related to character creation and Unreal Engine development.
  • Work closely with programmers to integrate character assets into the game engine, troubleshoot technical issues, and optimize workflows.
  • Provide feedback and mentorship to junior artists to foster their growth and development.


Requirements:


  • Strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in character and Props modeling, texturing, and rendering, with a focus on characters created for real-time applications.
  • Expertise in Unreal Engine, with a thorough understanding of its rendering pipeline, material system, animation tools, and optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, or equivalent tools for character creation.
  • Solid understanding of anatomy, form, silhouette, and composition, with the ability to translate 2D concept art into 3D models.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a passion for pushing the boundaries of character art in interactive experiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in Art, Animation, Game Design, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience working on shipped titles or published projects in the gaming industry.
  • Knowledge of additional game development disciplines such as level design, lighting, or visual effects.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Blueprint for automation and workflow enhancements.
  • Experience with motion capture pipelines and techniques.
  • Understanding of game design principles and player experience considerations.
