Job Description
The Cloud Technical Solutions Engineer, Infrastructure role involves managing customer issues on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) products through diagnosis and resolution. This includes developing a deep understanding of GCP's technology and architecture by troubleshooting, reproducing, and root-causing reported problems. The role also requires acting as a consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders, collaborating with product and engineering teams to improve GCP, and working with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams. Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese is essential for engaging with customers. Responsibilities include developing diagnostic tools, improving product functionality, and participating in non-standard work hours.
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent experience
- 4+ years coding or system design experience
- Experience debugging in Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Perl, or JavaScript
- Fluent English and Mandarin communication
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Good to have:
- Experience with computer networking, Kubernetes, virtualization, cloud computing, cloud security, monitoring, and storage
- SQL database administration, Google App Engine, open source software, cloud networking, distributed computing
- Linux/Unix system administration knowledge
- Web technologies knowledge (HTTP, HTML, DNS)

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience coding in a general purpose coding language or in system design, troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs, and triaging technical issues.
- Experience reading or debugging code in one or more of the following: Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Perl, JavaScript.
- Ability to communicate English and Mandarin Chinese fluently to engage with customers.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with computer networking.
- Experience with Kubernetes, system virtualization, on-premise or hybrid cloud computing, cloud identity and security system, cloud monitoring and logging, or local and cloud storage.
- Experience with SQL database administration, Google App Engine, open source software communities, cloud networking solutions, or distributed computing technology.
- Knowledge of system/network administrator level of Linux/Unix or other operating systems.
- Knowledge of web technologies (e.g., HTTP, HTML, DNS, etc.).
- Excellent troubleshooting, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication skills.

- Manage customer problems through diagnosis, resolution, or implementation of new investigation tools to increase productivity for customer issues on Google Cloud Platform products.
- Develop an understanding of Google's product technology and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, determining the root cause for customer reported issues, and building tools for diagnosis.
- Act as a consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales, and customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud.
- Work with multiple product and engineering teams to find ways to improve the product, and interact with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to drive production.
- Participate in non-standard work hours or shifts which may include weekends.
