Job Description

As a Controls Engineer at JMA Wireless, you will be working with a multidisciplinary team to commission new equipment and support existing equipment. Your responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining PLC programming, HMI interfaces, and robot programs. You will also develop and maintain electrical drawings and sequence of operations for equipment programs. You will create risk assessments, lead technicians, work with the design team for new equipment, and coordinate with maintenance or vendors. You will be expected to anticipate and solve equipment problems, provide technical assistance to production operations, and support technicians during line-down situations. Additionally, you will set up and reconfigure production cells for new products.

Job Summary:

As a Controls Engineer for JMA Wireless, you will be hands on and work with a multi discipline team to commission new equipment and support existing equipment.

Responsibilities:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain PLC programming (Logix5000 & Logix500). Standard and Safety logic.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain HMI interfaces (FactoryTalk & Ignition)
    • Develop, implement, and maintain Robot programs (FANUC, UR)
    • Develop, and maintain electrical drawings (Draft Site)
    • Develop sequence of operations for equipment programs.
    • Work with design team to create Risk assessments and develop control circuits/programs to mitigate documented risks.
    • Lead technicians during the electrical/mechanical build of equipment
    • Work with design team for development of new equipment, or upgrades to existing equipment.
    • Coordinating with Maintenance or vendors for the installation, repair, upgrade, or removal of equipment to minimize impact to production.
    • Anticipating and solving equipment problems in a timely manner.
    • Provide technical assistance to production operations and design engineering in facilitating daily demands and requirements for the continued success of the company.
    • Support technicians in investigation and troubleshooting line down situations.
    • Setup and/or reconfigure production cells for new products per the production schedule.

Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree (Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical) or related engineering field.
    • OR Associate degree (Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical) or related engineering field, with 5-plus years of relevant experience in industrial automation.
    • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication, and organizational skills are required.
    • Excellent technical writing skills and process understanding
    • Ability to be strongly tactical while driving a clear improvement strategy.
    • Strong preference given to candidates with industrial automation background.
    • Self-direction of assigned projects is critical.

$70,000 - $80,000 a year
The US national annual base salary range for this is $70,000 - $80,000. The range includes base salary that is expected to be paid for this role. Actual base salary will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the scope and complexity of the role, the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, peer and market data and geographic location.
