Engineering Manager (E-Commerce)

As an Engineering Manager on our "Collect" team, you will be the engineering lead for our B2C e-commerce efforts, working alongside a talented, cross-functional team. Your primary focus will be on continuous discovery, ensuring usability, quality, and security, while delivering a top-tier experience for millions of users worldwide.

In the Collect (E-Commerce) team, you will play a key role in shaping the shopping experience for millions of users as they grow their collections. You will be responsible for building and optimizing high-performance e-commerce solutions that enable customers to easily discover, purchase, and manage their orders.

Your Responsibilities as a Leader:

• Drive the technical execution of the product roadmap, taking ownership of the intended outcomes, ensuring efficient delivery, and fostering continuous improvement in collaboration with Product Management.

• Retain and grow a high-performing engineering team, cultivating a healthy and growth-oriented work environment.

• Inspire and guide the team through change, ensuring alignment on challenges, solutions, and execution strategies.

• Provide technical direction while aligning engineering efforts with business goals, product strategy, and customer needs.

• Ensure stable, reliable, and high-quality software delivery, adhering to lean principles and best practices.

Your Team’s Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain our e-commerce stack based on commercetools and Shopify, ensuring our products are available in all active markets (US, CAN, GAS, EU, HK, ANZ, and expanding).

• Commit to reliability, ensuring our services are available 24/7, 365 days a year, and helping us achieve our 99.99% SLA.

• Collaborate within a cross-functional, stream-aligned team, championing technical excellence to deliver seamless, always-on services. Work closely with the Product Manager and team members to ensure a fantastic user experience across the app & web, enabling parents to grow their collections and create enriching experiences for our little listeners.

• Technical Skills: Experience with TypeScript and React Native, demonstrating the ability to build scalable and high-performance applications across platforms.
  

• Transformational Leadership: Ability to inspire and drive change by identifying challenges, creating a clear vision, and executing improvements collaboratively with the team.

• Strong Engineering Expertise: Solid understanding of core engineering concepts and modern software development practices, with experience guiding technical decisions.

• Business & Product Alignment: Ability to align engineering efforts with business goals, understand product strategy, and collaborate effectively with Product Management.

• Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Proven experience leading engineering teams and proactively managing stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration.

• System Design & Architecture: Strong technical expertise, with a deep understanding of system design principles. Capable of driving architectural decisions and guiding the team to build scalable, maintainable, and high-performance systems.

• E-Commerce Solutions Knowledge: Familiarity with common e-commerce platforms like Shopify and the ability to address typical e-commerce challenges efficiently.

• Work Style: You have an agile, team-oriented, and independent work style, with a creative approach to exploring new solutions.

• Communication: Comfortable communicating in English in a professional work environment.
