Job Description

As an Engineering Manager, Server Frameworks, Core, you'll lead and manage a growing team focused on building Java and Kotlin services integrated with Google's infrastructure. This crucial infrastructure supports thousands of Google developers and billions of users. Responsibilities include setting team priorities, aligning strategies across teams, designing and supporting service infrastructure, collaborating on improvements, and triaging system issues. You'll manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, overseeing large-scale project deployment. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and experience managing budgets and international projects.

Must have:

8+ years Java/Kotlin development experience
Data structures/algorithms expertise
8+ years software testing/launch experience
5+ years technical leadership
2+ years people management
Experience with Spring Boot (Preferred)

Good to have:

Infrastructure development experience
Passion for API design and building infrastructure

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with software development in Java or Kotlin languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
8 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in developing infrastructure or making contributions to a code base.
Experience working with Spring Boot.
Passion for API design and for building infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals. Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
Design, implement, extend, and support the infrastructure for building services using Kotlin and Java.
Collaborate with teammates across the organization to deliver infrastructure improvements.
Triage system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on service operations and quality.
