Job Description

The ESPN Remote Event Security Intern will assist in planning and executing security operations for events. Responsibilities include providing administrative support (vendor payments, contractor management), requesting and reviewing reports, briefing the team on relevant intelligence, occasionally traveling for onsite security operations, managing security resources, and collaborating with security managers. The internship runs from June to December, requiring a consistent, reliable schedule, with 40 hours weekly (June-August) and 2-3 days in the office (September-December) in Bristol, CT. The role offers valuable experience in event security and working with security leaders and experts.

About the Role and Program


ESPN is recognized as an industry leader in sports media, serving fans through a portfolio of television networks, digital media platforms, and direct-to-consumer streaming services. The ESPN Security Team works diligently to protect the business, its employees and fans. The approximate dates of this internship are June through December.

What You Will do

The Security Operations Intern will gain valuable experience within ESPN's dynamic security organization. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the successful execution of events, work closely with security leaders and subject matter experts and experience the fast-paced and exciting world of live sports and entertainment. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the planning and execution of security operations for events

  • Providing administrative support, including vendor payments and contractor management processes

  • Requesting and reviewing reports, including briefing the team on relevant intelligence

  • Travel on occasion to assist with onsite security operations under the direction of experienced security leaders

  • Managing security resources effectively

  • Collaborating closely with security managers and other team members to ensure the seamless execution of all security initiatives

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong interest in the sports industry and security field

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Bilingual skillset a plus

Education

  • Junior or Senior year

  • Major or previous coursework in Criminal Justice, Business or related major preferred

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship

  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization 

Additional Information

  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship 

  • Fully available Monday through Friday during the months of June through August, 40 hours each week

  • Able to work 2-3 days in the office during the months of September through December

  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Bristol, CT area

  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

The pay rate for this role in Connecticut is $22 per hour.
