Job Description

The General Manager for Art will be a strategic leader responsible for the vision, structure, and mentorship of the art team. They will collaborate with other leaders to refine processes, drive innovation, and scale capabilities. Daily tasks include providing visionary leadership, building and leading a high-performing art team, collaborating with Art Directors, establishing efficient workflows, maintaining high artistic standards, managing resources, and advocating for the team within the studio. This role involves overseeing all aspects of art production and ensuring alignment with overall studio goals.

Job Description

We're looking for a strategic leader to take ownership of a key discipline within our studio. In this role, you’ll shape vision and structure, mentor senior talent, and ensure your teams are empowered to deliver outstanding games. You’ll work cross-functionally to refine processes, drive innovation, and scale capabilities — leaving a lasting impact on both people and projects.

Your daily tasks:

  • Provide visionary leadership and long-term strategy for the Art discipline across  the whole studio.
  • Build and lead a high-performing, motivated art team by mentoring, coaching, and supporting career growth.
  • Collaborate with Art Directors and Creative Directors and other stakeholders to translate the artistic vision into actionable pipelines and production-ready content.
  • Establish and continuously improve processes, workflows, and tools to ensure efficiency and quality in art production.
  • Set and maintain high standards for artistic excellence and technical execution.
  • Play an active part in project, milestone and gate reviews
  • Manage department resources, staffing plans, recruitment needs, and budgeting.
  • Advocate for the Art team within the broader studio leadership group, ensuring alignment with overall studio and publishing goals.
  • Monitor performance and engagement within the art discipline and proactively resolve team issues.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a senior or leadership art role within the games industry, AAA studio (e.g. Art Director or Studio Art Manager).
  • Deep understanding of game development pipelines across 2D, 3D, animation, VFX, and technical art.
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience managing large, multidisciplinary art teams.
  • Track record of mentoring and developing creative talent.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Passion for games and a strong appreciation for visual storytelling and game aesthetics.
  • Experience working in a multi-project or multi-studio environment.
