As a Principal Technical Program Manager for Copilot AI at Microsoft, you'll be at the heart of transformative AI solutions. You'll manage the customer feedback lifecycle, prioritizing, documenting, and analyzing feedback to enhance product experiences. Responsibilities include coordinating cross-team collaboration (engineering, data science, product), leveraging data insights to influence roadmaps, fostering a growth mindset, and driving scalable solutions. You'll need strong technical skills, experience with ML-powered products, and the ability to manage cross-functional projects. The role requires a balance of technical expertise and effective collaboration, working closely with engineering, data science, and product stakeholders. You will champion product quality and ensure our Copilot experiences address customer issues with high quality. The role is based in Mountain View, CA, Redmond, WA, or New York, NY, with a requirement of being in office 3 days a week.

As a Principal Technical Program Manager, Copilot AI, you will operate at the crossroads of product development, customer insights, and research, shaping the evolution of transformative AI solutions. You will take charge of the customer feedback lifecycle, driving strategic prioritization, comprehensive documentation, and deep analysis to enhance product experiences. By championing product excellence, you will synthesize diverse feedback channels into actionable insights, streamline processes, and uphold the highest standards of quality, ensuring continuous improvement and impactful features for our customers.

Our newly formed organization, Microsoft AI (MAI), focuses on Copilot and other consumer AI products and research. We combine world-class AI research together with top notch design and product craft. The wider team is responsible for Copilot, Bing, Edge, and generative AI research, while the Mobile Engineering team is responsible for leading and building the mobile experience of Copilot on iOS and Android, collaborating closely with our Product Management, Design and AI Research teams. This role requires a balance of technical skills and effective people collaboration skills.

By applying to this U.S. Mountain View, CA OR Redmond, WA OR New York, NY position, you are required to be local to the San Francisco area OR Seattle area OR New York area and in office 3 days a week.

Responsibilities
  • Product feedback life cycle: Manage, coordinate and execute end-to-end customer feedback process, specifically focused on triaging, reporting, dashboard, analysis , ensuring our Copilot experiences are delivered to address customer issues with high quality. 
  • Champion Product Quality: Review customer feedback across many channels, provide deep analysis and improve processes and maintain robust product quality for users worldwide. 
  • Coordinate Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, data science, and product stakeholders to align on goals, track deliverables, and communicate status updates effectively. 
  • Leverage Data & Insights: Collaborate with analytics teams to define key success metrics, correlate improvements to usage, and influence roadmaps based on data-driven insights. 
  • Foster a Growth Mindset: Mentor team members, Manage vendor resources, share best practices, and cultivate a culture where everyone feels empowered to innovate, learn, and grow. 
  • Apply Technical Expertise: Dive deep into product and system architecture to better understand root causes, shape solutions, and drive high-impact improvements with engineering partners 
  • Drive Scalable Solution: Design repeatable processes and frameworks that scale with product complexity and organizational growth, ensuring operational stability and continues improvement

Qualifications

Required Qualifications 
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6  years experience in product/technical program management or software development
  • OR equivalent experience. 
  • 3 years of experience managing cross-functional and multi-disciplinary projects, including customer support, product feedback, project management, and collaboration with various teams to execute them.
  • Experience in coordinating ML-powered products.

Preferred Qualifications 
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4 years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development 
  • OR equivalent experience. 
  • 4 years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 3 years of experience in managing projects directly involved with customer & product feedback areas in a global setup.
  • Technical depth in software development, data science and machine learning. While you are not expected to write code on the critical path, you’re able to build dashboards, execute queries, reason over large amounts of data, and speak the language of the engineers and researchers you work with.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
