QA Engineer

Onward Search is a specialized staffing and talent solutions company that helps professionals find top jobs with the nation’s leading brands. We’re looking to hire a QA Engineer for a Gaming client.

This is a 6+ month contract opportunity. The role is located in Los Angeles, CA, and is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with QA leadership to shape and execute quality strategies at the team level

• Partner closely with developers and producers to understand features and identify potential risks

• Develop and execute test plans, maintain test cases, and establish testing rhythms for the team

• Manage the team’s defect tracking process, ensuring issues are triaged, monitored, and addressed

• Oversee and review work delivered by external QA partners to ensure quality and efficiency standards

• Provide regular updates on test coverage, progress, and risks to relevant stakeholders

• Support the development and upkeep of automated testing pipelines

• Champion the end-user experience through exploratory testing and detailed feedback

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in software QA or a related field

• Background in testing service-based or distributed systems

• Knowledge of testing web front ends or UI-rich applications

• Strong skills in organization and communication

• Experience with test planning and monitoring test execution against targets

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in a game development or live service environment

• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous or rapidly changing contexts

• Familiarity with tools such as Postman, Swagger, SQL, or browser developer tools

• Experience with version control systems like Git or Perforce

• Exposure to test automation frameworks or continuous integration pipelines

• Familiarity with competitive online games or similar real-time applications
