Job Description

Moonshot Games seeks a QA Lead to manage testing for their first game across all platforms. Responsibilities include managing relationships with external testing partners, creating test plans collaboratively, acting as a communication bridge between internal and external teams, expanding QA efforts to include localization, certification, and hardware testing, identifying automation opportunities, organizing playtests, managing bug reporting, and contributing to game concepts. The ideal candidate has experience leading testing teams in game development, is skilled in team management, game quality evaluation, and report creation. Experience with Jira and Testrail is required.

In this role, you’ll lead the process of testing our first game across all its platforms. You’ll dig deep into the game’s design and then build a strategy with internal and external partners to put its systems to the test. 

Since the team is still early in its growth, you’ll get to play an impactful role in establishing foundational processes and methodologies.

You Will:

  • Manage the relationship with external testing partners in a way that reflects studio values
  • Ensure testing efforts have the necessary breadth and depth to achieve specific outcomes
  • Spearhead test-plan creation in collaboration with the design, engineering, art, and production teams
  • Act as a communication bridge for testing efforts between internal and external teams
  • Expand QA effort when appropriate to include localization QA, certification testing, and hardware config testing
  • Identify and champion opportunities for automation
  • Organize playtests across the team and lead the efforts around build tracking, issue reporting, and coordination of playtest environments
  • Research, report, and manage bugs sourced from several platforms, including PC and console


You Are:

  • Experienced leading testing teams through all phases of the game development process and delivering high-quality releases consistently
  • Well versed in team management best practices, including streamlining workflows, tracking dependencies, long-term planning, and personnel coaching
  • Skilled at evaluating the quality of video games and creating insightful reports that will support development priorities and help inform team decisions
  • Eager to jump in and help test all areas of our game and platform as well as contribute ideas to help explore game concepts across the development process


Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a senior QA role in gaming and/or entertainment
  • Expertise with Jira, including to creating and optimizing bug flows, tracking milestones, sharing burndown charts, and effectively curating the bug database
  • Proficiency with Testrail or similar task-tracking software for sharing testing-progress reports and trends
  • Experience with Unreal development and/or console submissions is a plus



The base salary range for this position is $86,313 to $143,855 USD per year, which is associated with our Level 3 salary band. The range listed for this position is just one component of Dreamhaven’s total compensation package for team members and exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.
