Job Description

The SAP Senior Project Manager will be responsible for assisting in various projects and change requests related to technology and service transitions. They will manage reporting and resolution of issues, risks, and dependencies, proactively identifying potential planning gaps and implementing mitigations. This role involves project leadership, including planning and deployment, budget and risk management, systems integration, and software development. The Senior Project Manager will also be expected to create and negotiate statements of work, planning and milestone creation, and financial reporting. They should be fluent in Agile and Scrum methodologies, and should have experience working with offshore development teams and managing business transition events. They will also be expected to manage a team.
Must have:
  • 10-12 years experience in SAP modules.
  • Experience in at least 4 full life-cycle implementation projects.
  • Understanding of SAP Activate Methodology.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements into SAP functionality.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Good to have:
  • Experience in the UK and Public sector.
  • Ability to work in both Pre-Sales and implementation teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong analytical skills.

Role- SAP Senior Project Manager
SAP Skills 
  • 10 to 12 years of experience in two or more SAP modules or submodules.
  • At least four full life-cycle implementation projects (from Blueprint/Explore through Go-Live).
  • Understands SAP Activate Methodology.
  • Understands integration between modules.
  • experience in the UK and Public sector would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work in both Pre-Sales as well as implementation teams.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements into SAP functionality, identify fit/gap as well as technical solutions for gaps.
  • Lead detailed module specific explore sessions.
  • Ability to use Service Marketplace to create tickets, research notes, review release notes, and solution roadmaps as well as provide guidance to customers on release strategy.
  • Understands complete Module/Application specific SAP functionality as well as integration points with other modules.
  • Understands how to utilize SAP’s Functionality/Integration to meet business requirements.
  • Effectively plans configuration and master data development.
  • Ability to estimate resources needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Ensures SAP is meeting project objectives/vision.
  • Should be familiar and experienced with SAP implementation methodologies - ASAP, Activate, etc.
 
Responsibilities 
  • Assist in various projects and change request related to technology and service transitions. Manage reporting and resolution of issues, risks, and dependencies, proactively identifying potential planning gaps, implementing mitigations to risks, and driving actions to close issues.
  • Provide project leadership to include ability to discuss and champion the business case for change to a business audience, and actively participate and execute high value business solutions. Role includes planning and deployment, budget management, risk management, systems integration, and software development. 
  • Create and negotiate statements of work, planning and milestone creation, financial reporting. Fluent in Agile and Scrum methodologies. 
  • Experience working with offshore development rationalizing development work and leading execution.
  • Assist in managing the approach, tools and processes that will be used to support business transition events.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to clearly and concisely communicate with others.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Understands business processes for focus area or multiple modules.
  • Ability to do research and perform detailed tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Understands business functionality related to SAP module/application as well as can identify and understand touch points between modules.
  • Understands how to solve detailed SAP problems.
  • Understands and can explain best business practices, especially those that SAP enables.
  • Understands detailed business functionality related directly and indirectly to SAP project.
  • Apply best business practices, especially those that SAP enables to meet client needs.

  • Aptitude for working in a team environment; problem-solving skills, creative thinking, communicating clearly and empathetically, strong time management, and ability to collaborate with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to explain ideas and concepts to other project team members and to client personnel.
  • Ability to interpret requirements and apply SAP best practices.
  • Ability to identify upsell opportunities and assist in the management of scope.
  • Creates professional relationships with client.
  • Develops new professional peer relationships for additional business or possible new consultants.
  • Helps develop overall marketing messages.
  • Communicates project resource requirements to staffing coordinator/clients.
  • Ensures quality implementation (works with QA program).
  • Participates in Pre-Sales as part of the client pursuit team.
  • Presents at conferences (SAPPHIRE, ASUG, HERUG, etc.)

  • Self-starter with ability to manage their own time and task in order to meet project milestones.
  • Manages team task lists in order to meet project milestones.
  • Monitors team status and reports variances.

  • Seeks ways to increase the project team effectiveness.
  • May act as a mentor to Consultants and Sr. Consultants.
  • Works well as a leader of the entire team (motivates team).
  • Seeks ways to increase the project team effectiveness.

  • Evaluates and design application and/or technical architectures.
  • Leads team effort in developing solutions for projects.
  • Completes assignments within budget, meets project deadlines, makes and keeps sensible commitments to client and team.
  • Meets billing efficiency targets and complies with all administrative responsibilities in a timely and effective manner.
  • Keeps project management appraised of project direction and client concerns.
  • Understands the client’s business and technical environments.
  • Regularly prepares status reports.
  • Effectively manage a single engagement on a detailed level.
  • Define project scope.
  • Direct team efforts in developing solutions for mission-critical client needs.
  • Manage the team responsible for the daily activities of assigned projects.
  • Ensure project quality, satisfaction, and profitability.
