Job Description

As a Senior Engineering Manager in the CI/CD Engineering (CIENG) group at Microsoft Defender for Cloud, you will lead a team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining tools that ensure seamless and efficient operations, accelerating developer experience. You will mentor and inspire a team, fostering collaboration and innovation. Responsibilities include providing technical guidance, leading architectural decisions, code reviews, and problem-solving. You'll manage the end-to-end lifecycle of services, adhering to high security standards. Collaboration with multiple Microsoft teams is crucial for delivering customer solutions. The role demands expertise in high-scale cloud systems, experience with large-scale operations, and the ability to handle ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

Must have:

7+ years software development experience
3+ years people management experience
BSc/MSc in Computer Science or equivalent
Expertise in cloud system architecture and development
Experience with large-scale operations and metrics collection

Good to have:

6+ years Linux system experience
6+ years software engineering experience on Azure/AWS/GCP
Experience with Kubernetes, Prometheus, Cilium/Istio

Qualifications

7+ years of software development experience building large scale applications.
3+ years of people management: technical leadership and mentorship, personal development, team building, recruiting ,vision, and roadmap creation.
B.Sc./M.Sc in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
Lead complex designs, implement with quality and scale, mentor engineers.
Expertise in architecture, design, development, and deployment of high scale cloud systems.
Experience with large scale operations, using methodologies such as feedback/Metrics collection techniques to expose live site/service issues
Ability to deal with the ambiguity associated with working in a fast-paced and changing environment.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

6+ years of Linux hands on system experiences 
6+ years of Software Engineering and experience in testing, deploying and supporting large scale services on Azure/AWS/GCP environments.   
Kubernetes, Prometheus, Cilium /ISTIO or any equivalent

Responsibilities

As a an Engineering Manager in CIENG group, You will lead an infrastructure software engineering team collaboratively designs, builds, and maintains tools that ensure seamless and efficient operations for the organizations which accelerate the developer experience.
Mentor and inspire a diverse team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. 
Provide technical guidance and expertise to the team, leading by example, assisting with architectural decisions, code reviews, and problem solving. 
Lead end-to-end design, implementation and delivery of services and features, following industry best practices, adhering to very high security standards
Engage in and improve end-to-end lifecycle of services from inception and design, through deployment, operation, and refinement.    
You will collaborate closely with multiple teams across Microsoft to deliver key customer solutions and the technology to support them.
