Job Details

Mythical Games is a Venture-backed game technology company powering the next generation of players, games, and studios. Our goal is to launch exceptional video games that leverage distributed ledger tech while providing a platform that will allow other game developers to do the same.

At Mythical Games, we are proud of our ‘People First’ culture. We believe that it takes great people and culture to make great products. By treating each other with empathy and respect, we can live fulfilling lives outside our jobs while also creating exceptional work.

We’re looking for a Senior Live Game Engineer to join our mobile team as a key contributor on our Live Ops Strike Team, reporting directly to the Technical Director. This is a senior-level engineering role focused on diagnosing and fixing critical issues in our live mobile games during soft launch and global release. You’ll operate independently across the stack—Unity client and backend services—owning the technical response to production issues that impact players. You’ll be trusted to make sound decisions quickly, deliver stable hotfixes, and lead with best practices that raise the bar for the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take full ownership of investigating, reproducing, and resolving high-impact bugs in live game environments.
• Collaborate across Production, QA, LiveOps, Design, and Engineering to triage issues, clarify technical trade-offs, and align on rapid solutions.
• Develop, validate, and deploy fixes across Unity client and backend systems with speed and precision.
• Proactively monitor telemetry and crash data to catch emergent issues before they escalate.
• Build internal tooling and automation to improve debug and test workflows for the broader team.
• Participate in postmortems and contribute to systemic improvements that increase live stability and velocity.
• Drive technical quality by mentoring others, sharing best practices, and identifying areas for improvement in systems and processes.

Required Qualifications:

• Deep proficiency with the Unity Engine (C#), including expertise in optimizing performance, debugging in-editor and on-device, and working across mobile platforms (iOS/Android).
• 6+ years of experience in full-stack Unity development, including work on a live or actively supported mobile title.
Advanced Unity (C#) skills with a deep understanding of performance, memory, and platform-specific constraints.
• Fluency in backend development with a working knowledge of Docker and hands-on experience building and debugging production systems.
• Familiarity with crash reporting tools (e.g., Crashlytics, Backtrace) and performance profiling.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly across disciplines.
• A track record of delivering complex features and systems independently and on time.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have, But Not Required):

• Experience operating mobile free-to-play games in soft launch or live service.
• Knowledge of networking, server reconciliation, or cheating mitigation strategies.
• Comfort with CI/CD systems, rollback strategies, and mobile app deployment workflows.
• Prior experience in LiveOps, on-call rotations, or site reliability roles.
• A passion for delivering bug-free, high-quality player experiences—even under pressure.
• Familiarity with Web3 game systems, such as wallet integrations, NFT-based economies, or blockchain-driven marketplaces.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes for managing scalable game backend infrastructure, improving reliability, and optimizing resource utilization.
