The Services Contract Manager at Microsoft is responsible for approving and negotiating non-standard contractual terms, balancing business needs, opportunities, and risks to meet Microsoft and customer objectives. This role supports the Public Sector Services sales organization, reviewing, negotiating, and approving non-standard contract terms and documents. Success requires sound business judgment, critical thinking, problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and detail-orientation. The manager makes empowered decisions on customer agreements, negotiates contract terms, collaborates with various business groups, ensures adherence to guidelines and policies, and shares best practices with sales teams. The role demands strong negotiation skills, attention to workflows and deadlines, and a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving in a dynamic environment.

A Services Contract Manager is responsible for approving and negotiating non-standard contractual terms in a way that balances business needs, opportunities, and risks, all with the goal of meeting both Microsoft and customer strategic objectives.  Services Contracts Managers drive a healthy business for internal and external customers, support transactional excellence, and ensure Microsoft assets are protected, all while driving adherence to Services guidelines and policies.  This role supports the Public Sector Services sales organization by owning the review, negotiation, and approval of non-standard contract terms and documents.

 

You will be successful in this role if you possess sound business judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, the capability to build relationships cross-functionally, are detail-oriented, and demonstrate the flexibility needed to navigate ambiguity in a collaborative environment.  It’s critical to know how to prioritize for high impact and drive multiple initiatives to conclusion in a timely manner; proactively seek knowledge and embrace technology and be self-motivated and dedicated to assisting others learn and be successful. Another bonus is to possess a good sense of humor with the ability to adapt to a dynamic and exciting environment!

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 4+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement
    • OR equivalent experience

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Software/Cloud services industry, consulting, and support experience preferred.
  • Applicable experience in software licensing, services and sales.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills in a cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, oral and written communication ability, adaptable to engagements with all levels of an organization.
  • Proven complex negotiation skills.
  • Attention to workflows and deadlines.
  • Thoughtful risk-taking, with a demonstrated growth mindset and curiosity to learn independently.

Citizenship verification: This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.

 

Business Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Make empowered decisions on customer agreements, exercising sound business judgment. 
  • Negotiate services contract terms and conditions to close deals.
  • Collaborate with sales, legal, finance, and other business groups to design winning offers and deal constructs.
  • Own the review, negotiation and approval of non-standard contract terms and non-standard contract documents.
  • Drive business adherence to Services guidelines and policies.
  • Ensure negotiation strategies for services adhere to established principles and standards and help adapt those principles to the evolving technology marketplace.
  • Share best practices and coach sales teams to improve Microsoft’s deal-making capabilities and accelerate deal timelines.
