Job Description

The Software Development Manager with Scientific Games and is responsible for managing implementation projects and team members to ensure the successful and timely implementation of Scientific Games Lottery products.

The ideal candidate is responsible for being the leader of the team that promotes innovation, growth and customer satisfaction. The candidate must effectively understand and analyze both business and technical requirements while keeping in mind the big picture in the development of the company’s future products.

This position must demonstrate a high degree of initiative and is accountable for the thorough implementation of all software related tasks. The Software Development Manager reports to, and is directed by, the Director of Software Development.

Required

  • Manage and lead the delivery of implementations and other technical projects. 
  • Work closely with internal and external customers to make sure that the application meets the needs of the business.
  • Coordinate the establishment and execution of product development and architectural roadmaps that align with the company’s overall vision. 
  • Develop project schedules and monitor project progress in conjunction with senior management
  • Ensure the teams delivery of quality work in accordance with technical design and product requirements
  • Help determine and enforce company and department standards for development and testing activities.
  • Validate adherence to SG’s and industry security standards
  • Strong knowledge of software testing, testing metrics and ability to manage multiple testing efforts. 
  • Provide Level 3 Production Support.
  • Monitor and maintain project-related documentation in anticipation of internal and third-party audits.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on new programming methods and technologies in order to anticipate and accommodate future changes dictated by business and technical growth.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members. 
  • Conduct interviews for new staff.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 10 or more years programming experience, preferably in a large-scale transaction processing or other complex system, is a plus.
  • Previous IT management experience (4+ years) is required.
  • Experience in Customer Interaction and Requirements Analysis.
  • Experience in Software design/architecture, Network architecture, Web programming, Database programming, Source Control/Configuration, and User interface implementation.
  • Development experience/familiarity with, JAVA, ANGULAR, JavaScript, CSS, Web services, SQL Server, AJAX.
  • Knowledge regarding Agile Development processes and methodologies, overall software operations is a plus.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment where multiple projects must be managed simultaneously.
  • Gaming/Lottery business experience a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to technical development as evidenced by continuing education and professional certifications is a plus.
  • 20% Travel Required both Domestic and International

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include, but are not limited to: training and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, delegating and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving employee issues.

Qualifications

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 10 or more years programming experience, preferably in a large-scale transaction processing or other complex system, is a plus.
  • Previous IT management experience (4+ years) is required.
