Job Description

As a Software Engineer Manager for the Gemini Application Programming Interface at Google, you'll play a crucial role in building reliable and scalable infrastructure and APIs that empower external and internal developers to leverage Google's AI models and solutions. You'll be responsible for utilizing Google AI Studio for development and experimentation, understanding the needs of developers working with Large Language Models (LLMs), and shaping the tools and interfaces to facilitate their solutions. Your responsibilities will also include building production-scale features to productionize new generative AI technical stacks, designing and developing available and low-latency online serving systems for first-party AI models, and collaborating with partner product teams to advance LLM techniques and realize product impact.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of software development experience
  • 5 years of technical leadership experience
  • 5 years of people management experience
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5 years of experience with software development in C++, Java, Python
  • 2 years of experience building products or features utilizing machine learning models
  • 2 years of experience managing a team
  • Experience with innovative ideas and execution
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, Python).
  • 2 years of experience building products or features that utilize machine learning models through the full cycle of data collection, model development, and deployment.
  • 2 years of experience managing a team.
  • Experience with innovative ideas and execution.
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Build reliable and scalable infrastructure and APIs to allow external and internal developers to leverage Google AI models and solutions.
  • Leverage Google AI Studio for development and experimentation using the Gemini API.
  • Understand developers of Large Language Models based applications and shape the tools and interfaces to allow them to build their solutions.
  • Build production-scale features to productionize new generative AI technical stack while also designing and building available and low latency online serving systems for first-party AI models.
  • Collaborate with partners product areas/teams to advance LLM techniques, and realize product impact.
