Mozilla Corporation is seeking a Staff Visual Designer to lead UX efforts for major initiatives in Firefox Mobile, with a strong focus on visual craft and interaction design. The role involves translating user needs and business goals into polished, intuitive experiences that feel native and high-quality. Responsibilities include designing and prototyping intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling mobile experiences that support Firefox’s core values of privacy, security, and performance. The designer will create storyboards, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for research, collaborate with cross-functional teams, advocate for mobile-first UX best practices, and contribute to the evolution of the Design System. The company is a non-profit-backed technology company focused on making the internet better for people, promoting openness, and user empowerment.
Must have:
  • 7+ years of UX design experience
  • Strong mobile-first design portfolio

About this team and role:

The Firefox UX team works on products and services that keep the Internet open and accessible for all. We, Mozilla, a corporation fully owned by a non-profit are focused on a mission to advance a healthy internet. We put people first in everything we do.

As a Staff Product Designer, with a strong foundation in visual and interaction design, you will take a strategic lead in shaping the future of Firefox on Android and iOS, with a strong emphasis on delivering best-in-class native experiences. Prioritizing Android, you’ll apply deep knowledge of platform-specific design patterns to craft intuitive, high-quality mobile interfaces. You’ll raise the bar on visual and interaction design across platforms—ensuring every detail reflects polish, clarity, and usability. Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content strategists, you’ll advocate for user needs while aligning with Mozilla’s mission of privacy and user empowerment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead UX efforts for major initiatives in Firefox Mobile, with a strong focus on visual craft and interaction design. You'll translate user needs and business goals into polished, intuitive experiences that feel native and high-quality on every touchpoint.
  • Design and prototype intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling mobile experiences that support Firefox’s core values of privacy, security, and performance.
  • Create design storyboards, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate intent and for conducting qualitative and quantitative research
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and research teams to align design decisions with business objectives, technical feasibility, and user needs.
  • Advocate for mobile-first UX best practices, ensuring high usability across different devices and screen sizes.
  • Contribute to and evolve the Design System, ensuring consistency and usability across mobile platforms.
  • Support product strategy from concept to completion for critical user journeys and finding opportunities

What You Bring:

  • 7+ years of experience in UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing mobile-first design work.
  • Deep expertise in native design languages, with a strong focus on Android and complementary experience in iOS. Well-versed in platform-specific patterns, guidelines, and best practices to deliver intuitive, high-quality mobile experiences.
  • Strong ability to balance user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility in design decisions.
  • Experience designing for privacy, security, and accessibility in mobile applications.
  • Proficiency with Figma 
  • Highly collaborative
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable presenting and articulating design decisions
  • Interest in working with geographically distributed cross-functional team members
  • Passionate about building products with people’s needs at the center 
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to present design concepts and advocate for UX decisions with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience working with design systems and contributing to their evolution.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative, and remote-first environment.
  • Ability and interest in learning new technologies quickly

  • Experience with browser UX design or working on consumer-facing products with large user bases.
  • Deep understanding of developing products that prioritize accessibility
  • Familiarity with Jira and/or other engineering and product management tools
  • Passion for open-source, privacy-first, and ethical technology.
  • Experience with design thinking and lean software development
  • Knowledge of user research methodologies and when to apply them
